As is our custom, the Mid-Missouri Freepers were at our posts at the Columbia Post Office this morning. Dogrobber, Bluesagewoman, Snowflake, Zip and I faced off against the usual "peace-at-any-price" supporters. I forgot to count them this week, but there were about the usual number, and all carrying the usual signs. (I can't say too much against that since I have my favorites that I like to hold each week also. HA)
Our conversations among ourselves were lively and interrupted frequently by waves, thumbs-up, and even some horn-honking for OUR side. A few people honked and waved flags; others honked and gave us a thumbs-up. BSW said that the same person who gave us the "one-finger-salute" at the end of the hour last week came by earlier today, with the same greeting.
Early in the hour, a lady on her way past us said, "If you guys are taking a survey, I'm on your side. Thanks for being here." A retired Air Force officer stopped by to say "Thank you for being here" on his way back to his car after visiting the Post Office. We lost count of the number of "thumbs-up" we received during the hour.
When I posted a few weeks ago, I mentioned the UM journalism students who visit the Saturday FReeps for comments and photos. Since then, I haven't seen another student until today. True to bias, however, he spent his entire time on the other side of the street, interviewing and taking notes. Perhaps we have had such a positive influence on his classroom peers that the students have been instructed to interview only one side or the other, so ....
These weekly reports seem to always carry the same news, but I thoroughly enjoy being there. It is fun to visit with friends and talk to the occassional person who actually wants to discuss the war and/or issues. But most of all, it is one small, trivial thing I can do to demonstrate to the troops who are putting their lives on the line, and to their families and loved ones, just how much I appreciate the sacrifices you make for all Americans.
THANK YOU, MILITARY MEN AND WOMEN EVERYWHERE, FOR YOUR SERVICE TO OUR COUNTRY. Godspeed!

Look at all those old coots holding up those cheesy signs. What does training Latin Americans to kill other Latin Americans have to do with the price of beans? WHATEVER!!!
Blessings for the Show Me State.
Thanks for the ping SAM.

PROV, THANKS FOR POSTING.
Bluesagewoman and I were just discussing ANSWER sponsorship of anti American rallies on another thread and "Boom" the useful idiots across the street pop up with many ANSWER originated signs today. I hope Blue will post a couple of them.
It was fun today so let's do it again next week.

"...it is one small, trivial thing I can do.."
What you wonderful people do is not trivial. It is heartwarming, courageous, inspirational, uplifting, righteous, educational, informative, selfless, generous and humorous. But not trivial!
I love you guys.

Columbia--the fine home of Liquor, Guns and Ammo and home of Jack's Gourmet Restaurant. I had the best crown of lamb in that wonderful place that I ever had.
To: Temple Owl
I hear that Bass Pro is building a new place and the "Guns, Liquor and Ammo" sign won't be making the move. It will be the end of a legend.
To: bluesagewoman
DAMN!!! That was a great sign. My oldest son graduated from Mizzou's J school and I enjoyed visiting Columbia.
The food at Bobby Buford's was terrific too, I hope things haven't changed too much.
