RALEIGH, N.C. -- State lawmakers will hold meetings next week to hear from the public on the next version of legislative districts to be drawn.

Both the House and Senate will hold public hearings Nov. 20 in Raleigh.

The General Assembly is redrawing legislative districts for the third time in as many years after North Carolina courts ruled two sets of previous maps unconstitutional.

They say they are trying to meet redistricting criteria set by the state Supreme Court last year.

Nothing to it but to do it.

Ashley Stephenson, the lead plaintiff, told them during their redistricting farcical 'public hearings' in 2001 that if they passed unconstitutional maps, he'd sue. They did, and he did, and, here we are again, waiting to see if the Elites in control of the state legislature know how to read the simple criteria laid down by the Supreme Court.

Will the demos in NC run off to New Mexico like they did here in Texas?

"Not likely, they control both houses of the lege and the governorship."

Hold on here, I think the GOP holds nominal control of the house, don't they? Or, at least, isn't it evenly divided between both parties? I thought that guy who switched to the Dems switched back to the GOP? As it is, the GOP holds a 7-6 advantage in this GOP-leaning state, which means that the Demos can't do too much to stifle the Reps.

That moron who switched to the Democrats switched back to the Republicans, so the GOP once again has a 61-59 lead in the House. However, the power-sharing deal made when the House was 60-60 is good through 2004.

The North Carolina legislature is divided between the two partys, isn't it?

However, the power-sharing deal made when the House was 60-60 is good through 2004.

And the deal means RINO Richard Morgan (who wants to see some incumbent conservative Republicans driven out of office, via redistricting or other) and his rat buddy Jim Black (although that marriage is on the rocks) are in control of the house, while conservatives have no say whatsoever.

The power sharing deal in the NC House is not much different from the way the US Senate operates. Too many GOP Senators aren't willing to fight the leftist wackos.

It's very different, much much much worse. Imagine Chuck Hagel (R, France) (or Olympia Snowe) and Tom Daschle in control of the chamber, the committee chairmanships, running roughshod over the 40 conservatives, passing whatever liberal legislation they please, with a House and Prez who'd go along with them.

Richard Morgan and the 4 RINOS deserve primary challenges.

Morgan already has one, but it's hard to get those things under way until we have legislative districts for this election.

I have a feeling the courts will draw the districts again.
