Sen. Ted Kennedy called President Bush's judicial nominees "Neanderthals" on Friday, a group that includes Hispanic lawyer Miguel Estrada and African-American Judge Janice Rogers Brown. Boasting of his party's resolve in the face of GOP attempts to stop their filibuster, Kennedy told the Senate, "What has not ended is the resolution and the determination of the members of the United States Senate to continue to resist any Neanderthal that is nominated by this president of the United States for any court, federal court in the United States."
Kennedy's overtly racist language stunned even liberal CNN correspondent Jonathan Karl, who reported, "Strong words from Ted Kennedy suggesting that some of these nominees are Neanderthals."
Karl said Kennedy's harsh tone was "exactly what Republicans point to when they say it is the Democrats that have been the extremists on this."

Ted reminds me of that line in Chinatown when John Huston is talking to Jack Nicholson over lunch and says "old buildings, whores, and politicians all gain respect if they live long enough" - Ted is the exception that proves the rule.

Kennedy's a lost cause.
What I don't understand is, after all he's done and said, the voters in Mass who keep him i noffice, can look at themselves in the mirror and not be ashamed.

The exact quote is in the article.
"What has not ended is the resolution and the determination of the members of the United States Senate to continue to resist any Neanderthal that is nominated by this president of the United States for any court, federal court in the United States."

To twist an old phrase "... if that isn't the reprobate calling the black neanderthal."

"I never realized that Neanderthals were a race."
Well, monkeys are not a race either; but who was it that said a ball player was like a 'little monkey'; and that was his last day at work. . .

Let's review some of Ted Kennedy's history...
His parents made their money on booze (illegally).
His papa bought elections. (OK, he couldn't control who his parents were).
He's done more coke and drank more booze than anyone I know. (OK, I've led a sheltered life. hehehe).
He got kicked out of Harvard for cheating (on an exam).
He killed his mistress (and gets away with it).
And now he calls my wife, relatives, friends, etc. "Neanderthals."
Stellar performance for a caring liberal.

It probably wasn't really racist since you can call whites neaderthals just as easily --- but he sounds like he may be heading into end-stage alcoholism.

Sen. Kennedy must be censured and removed from the senate for this appalling and shameful racist slander.

If Bush Appointees really were Neanderthals, their species on Kennedy and Byrds side of the Isle in the Senate would be singing their praises and approving them as fast as possible.
When it comes to the approval of Judges, the Liberal Democrats may as well hang up a sign stating: "Non-sonovabitches need not apply!" THat is what their actions are making perfectly clear.

His parents made their money on booze (illegally). Kind of an ironic twist that he's likely to die one day in a drunken stupor. They should have been more careful to tell him to just bootleg the stuff --- not drink it all.

The Dims are headed far left just as fast as they can. They realize at this point that being "Moderate" will not get them any votes, so it's an all out race to the left. And they are willing to do and say anything because to the lefties they can do no wrong. Remember to be a leftist you have to be either
(1) An utter idiot and or
(2)A power hungry Megalomaniac.
