Sen. Ted Kennedy called President Bush's judicial nominees "Neanderthals" on Friday, a group that includes Hispanic lawyer Miguel Estrada and African-American Judge Janice Rogers Brown. Boasting of his party's resolve in the face of GOP attempts to stop their filibuster, Kennedy told the Senate, "What has not ended is the resolution and the determination of the members of the United States Senate to continue to resist any Neanderthal that is nominated by this president of the United States for any court, federal court in the United States."
Kennedy's overtly racist language stunned even liberal CNN correspondent Jonathan Karl, who reported, "Strong words from Ted Kennedy suggesting that some of these nominees are Neanderthals."
Karl said Kennedy's harsh tone was "exactly what Republicans point to when they say it is the Democrats that have been the extremists on this."

Oh, FFS.
If this actually happens, the Dems will use this legal tactic whenever Republicans try to block bills that they want passed--Social Security expansion, education spending, whatever. And if anyone here remembers the 2000 election, or Torricelli in New Jersey, or any other Democrat court trick, they'll know that the Democrats are skilled with getting their way thanks to an already-packed judiciary.
This is the true "nuclear option," and I for one do NOT support it.

"Do you notice how the Left is willing to jump on semantic distinctions like saying that "neanderthal" is not racist because neanderthals aren't a race, yet they insist that Bush declared Iraq an imminent threat when Bush only used the word "imminent" in a sentence to convey the opposite meaning that we can't wait for the threat to be imminent?"
Excellent point--it bears repeating (I think).. I am SO TIRED of the liberal bias on the Iraq war.
this is off topic, but I correspond with a friend who is a former Navy officer. I live in Canada, he's in the States. Yesterday I asked him if people in the US were really starting to get "down" on the Iraq war.
He said, "the body count is starting to bother people."
Now ag ain, he's a conservative, though not a Freeper.
All I can say is, I am so glad we've begun aggressive action against those who would attack us. Yes, we hoped the end of hostilities was in May, but unfortunately it wasn't. So... BRING IT ON! ;) :) Don't hold back!
Dead Americans on the news will always bother Americans, because we CARE . However, if we feel like they died neednessly or in some situation where it could have been prevented, then yes, Americans will want their sons and daughters brought home.
So, we pretty much agree that bringing peace and democracy to Iraq and the rest of the Middle East (I know, it's a long-term goal) is a GREAT THING for humanity. And by the way, The U.S. is the only country, with the exception of Britain, Poland, Australia, and others who understand, who is willing to put its young people in harm's way to defend that ideal.
I thank God I was born in the U.S. We are truly a bastion of freedom ... oh goodness, what was the question?
I'm sorry...yes, I am pwd. Posting While Drinking (wine). But now I'm going to sleep, helping my kids go to sleep. :) Goodnight, Freepers! :)

As long as he keeps voting to keep the murder of the unborn legal, he can literally say and do anything he wants without repercussion.

"Kennedy's overtly racist language stunned even liberal CNN correspondent Jonathan Karl, who reported, "Strong words from Ted Kennedy suggesting that some of these nominees are Neanderthals" Great ammunition in his upcoming run for Senate, if Republicans can manage to keep the ballot boxes from being stuffed with bogus votes in Mass.

If the national media reported the murders in Oakland and DC they way they report the casualties in Baghdad, the American people would think differently.

If what Lott said was so offensive, Kennedy should be hounded for his statement as well. Can't argue with you there.

I know there is no way to get a liberl-murder kicked out of the senate but does anyone think we could get that fat piece of sh.. censored?? I would just love his career to end with something so becoming of the rapist/murderous/kennedy clan.
