Cheryl Clark, who left a lesbian relationship in 2000 after converting to Christianity, was ordered by Denver County Circuit Judge John Coughlin to "make sure that there is nothing in the religious upbringing or teaching that the minor child is exposed to that can be considered homophobic."
Dr. Clark filed her appeal with the Colorado Court of Appeals last week.
Her former lover, Elsey McLeod, was awarded joint custody of the child, an 8-year-old girl who is Dr. Clark's daughter by adoption.

Smoking is bad for you. We must ban it.
Gay practices are worse for you. We must encourage it.
At our current rate of travel, you will reach your destination shortly -- whether or not you read those passages.
Even more importantly, whenever Christians speak of trying to preserve the culture that we inherited we are accused of trying to create "bedroom police" or "thought police" or whatever. Yet it isn't the Christians who are doing this, it is the perverts and their willing accomplices. In all the decades when homosexuality was illegal we never had anything as egregious in violating rights as this case.
Christians are not the enemy of American Freedom. They are its guardians.
Shalom.
Good heavens! That is a rather strong statement based on no evidence whatsoever. Why would you say such a thing?
Is it not possible that Clark (recognizing the correction you made in the next post) actually cares deeply about McLeod but simply wants to teach her daughter the truth about her deviant lifestyle?
Shalom.
What if daddy is a scumbag? What if he is in prison for rape or murder? What if he used to beat the stuffing out of mommy on a regular basis.
In all your careful, reasoned response you have forgotten that homosexuality is wrong. It is the mother's moral duty to warn her child against it.
Shalom.
You make an excellent point, but there is even one more excellent point to make. This isn't a famly law case because McLeod isn't part of the family. PERIOD.
Either the word "family" has meaning or it does not. Redefining it from the bench is egregious and should never be permitted.
For the moment, a family is a man and a wom who are legally married and/or any children of theirs by birth or adoption. There is no other definition.
Shalom.
There is no non-custodial parent here. There is a custodial non-relative, but no non-custodial parent.

You have a constitutional right to be gay.
You do not have a constitutional right to read the Bible in school.
Does anyone really wonder why Christians believe our culture is nearly at an end?
Shalom.
Actually, the judge is resrticting a great deal more that that.
From the original article: Cheryl Clark, who left a lesbian relationship in 2000 after converting to Christianity, was ordered by Denver County Circuit Judge John Coughlin to "make sure that there is nothing in the religious upbringing or teaching that the minor child is exposed to that can be considered homophobic."
My, you are a silly a$$.
Judges don't get removed for restricting the rights of Christians or for advancing the gay agenda. Judges get removed for displaying the Ten Commandments.
Everybody knows that!
Shalom.

Judge to Christian mom: No 'homophobic' teaching
If that's what I think was happening, no -- probably not.
But I doubt it's so lovely and Christian as that. Rather, based on the Judge's very circumspect comments, I think this whole thing is very, very ugly, and that the one lady is using the Bible to poison the little girl against the other lady.
So if that's the case .... in your opinion, is it fine for a woman, allegedly a Christian, to use the Bible to stop a child from loving somebody whom they've come to love as a parent?
Because we have no reason to disbelieve the judge when he says that this is a very acrimonious situation, and that the so-called "Christian teachings" are damaging the relationship between the little girl and McLeod. Call me a cynic -- but I think that this is basically your typical ugly divorce with a twist, and there is little niceness to be found on either side.
Is it not possible that Clark (recognizing the correction you made in the next post) actually cares deeply about McLeod but simply wants to teach her daughter the truth about her deviant lifestyle?
Possible, but highly unlikely.
BTW, a large part of my contrarian position on this story is due the fact that Clark's lawyers are a) advocacy lawyers, a species whose public statements I never trust at face value; and b)the fact that they're shrieking about the judge wanting to suppress religious freedom, when it seems quite clear that the judge's ruling is based on something quite different: the damage Clark is causing to the relationship between the child and McLeod.
IMHO this thing is a publicity gimmick by Clark's lawyers to raise a public hue and cry -- which it seems to be doing.
And all involved (with the possible exception of the judge) seem to have lost sight of the fact that there's an innocent little girl who has to witness this ugliness, and whose opinion of what Christianity means is probably being hideously warped -- by Ms. Clark, above all.
Is it any wonder that they DO NOT want any Biblical teachings on homosexuality to have an influence on the child? The mother now follows Christ and He enabled her to leave a lesbian life style. Yup, He will help all who desire it. To suggest that the mother remain silent on the most important Person in her life - Christ and His teachings as well as His power to heal is absurd! It just goes to show how evil hates Him and His teachings.
But awarding joint custody to a non-parent non-relative is distinctly uncommon.
