self

Anyone hear about this?

"The Universal National Service Act of 2003 "amends the Military Selective Service Act to authorize the military registration of females" and declares "that it is the obligation of every U.S. citizen, and every other person residing in the United States, between the ages of 18 and 26 to perform a two-year period of national service"

How bout this guys and gals.

People who complete a term of service in the military get another vote in all elections. This would serve the same purpose of getting more voters with a real word appreciation of their country.

Insted of forcing people to serve, you give the ones who do the ability to cancel out a vote from the clueless class.

Can we all support that?

Explain to me how the "common defense" is served by taking a bunch of teenagers out to cut brush on Federally owned land, or pick up garbage, or whatever.
-Pmom-

Please explain how a through grounding in the basic military arts, and in our constitutional system, would harm a bunch of teens..

Believe me when I say that you are among the very LAST people I'd want to attempt to protect and defend us. Nothing worse than a coward who blusters and threatens women. Does that give you a feeling of masculinity that you otherwise lack?

Please feel free to point out where I said that anyone should thank me for that. Once again, you make up b.s. about me and then attack me for things I never posted. You really do need to take a deep breath and step away from the keyboard.

I'm over 26...............(just a little)

I refuse to subject my kid to government schools.............

Likewise I will do everthing I am able to shield her from "mandatory national service"

Slavery was outlawed 130 years ago.

I not only understand the point of it, but also see that it has become a veritable kook magnet, for the likes of you.

I am not the kook here, I am not the one here who does not understand the difference between free will and enslavement, you are.

Wrong as usual. I'm not the one who confuses military conscription with enslavement. Now, please leave me alone.

When a person has no choose in doing something, and they have commited not a crime to warrant it, it is enslavement.

And the freedom to take all you can grab, while picking and choosing how to help keep our freedom and liberty. Interesting concept.

Try reading the Constitution and Declaration Of Independence some time. You might find some more interesting concepts in there...like freedom from being told by petty burrowcraps that you must (or be jailed) "serve" by dying in Somolia...or "serve" by carrying out some politico's payoff in lieu of tax money.

Try another interesting concept: maybe people quite reasonably have a problem with being ORDERED UNDER DURESS to do something. Amazing how much people are willing to do when asked...and how little when ordered.

You still don't get it.

The issue is not service. The issue is CHOICE...the issue is FREEDOM.

Now, please leave me alone.

EXACTLY!

That's the whole point! We just want to be left alone, free to serve - or not - as we conciencious citizens see fit!

Mile after mile of barracks filled with thousands of teens.

LOL. Sounds like an Iraqi plot.

It's a good bet those on this thread who so blithely want to hand over our teens to conscription don't have sons and daughters of their own.

It's easy to gamble with someone else's life-savings.

I don't have any kids of this age yet, but mine are growing up fast. I don't want "the state" (read: liberals) to have any chance to indoctrinate my kids. I don't understand why so many here think that this would be done WELL. We have example after example of these liberal, feel good schemes being utter disasters.
