Prayer for Khalida
November 12, 2003 | Mr. Mulliner

Posted on 11/12/2003 8:32:35 AM PST by Mr. Mulliner

I would like to ask my wonderful Freeper family to pray for a special friend named Khalida.

Khalida is a Palestinian woman from Israel and Jordan. She is an absolute blessing to so many people, but is now facing some dark times and needs your prayer.

Her story is fascinating and her life gives glory to God. Her mother died when she was 11 days old. Her immediate family was killed by a bomb during the war. She was raised by a Jewish family, but later sold into slavery in Jordan. She was raped when she was 10 and later escaped to where her father was living with his other 2 wives.

Khalida's life has been so hard. She was nearly killed by her father when she was still young for teaching herself to read. Because she was seen as trouble, she was given in marriage at age 15. A few years later she was living in America with a baby girl, knowing no English, and her husband divorced her because she had given him no son. Her father and step brothers took her baby from her so that she could marry again more easily.

After a second marriage failed, Khalida began to learn English. Five years ago she became a Christian and that has changed her life completely. She says she once was full of hatred, but now her whole life is marked by love for God and is expressed by her love for others.

Now Khalida is married to an American, has 4 children of her own and is raising the 15-month-old baby of a drug addict living on the street and the 6-month old of a woman trying to get out of poverty. Khalida's husband is very ill and cannot work so she is working full time as a math teacher in a private school. She also runs an online ministry to reach out to Muslims, helps many people in her church, and is trying to find time to write a book about her life.

Recently Khalida had a biopsy for breast cancer. She has been very ill and is in constant pain. She is also struggling with depression and now talking about wanting to go home to be with the Lord.

Will you please pray for this dear sister and ask God to renew her hope and to relieve her pain and symptoms?

On behalf of my good friend Khalida, I thank you for your prayers. Please ask others to pray also.

Why?
I believe very strongly in the power of prayers.
Some things about your request just do not seem straightforward and honest to me.

What pieces are you missing? I didn't think it was relevant to mention the name of her church. No one said anything about "evil Jews." You seem to have an axe to grind.

Yes, I'll pray for Khalida's health, physically AND spiritually. She needs to remain strong in the Lord.

Thanks for being a good friend and putting this request out on FR.

Heavenly Father,

May You hold this woman close to Your heart and whisper Your truths in her ear. She needs You, Lord, and only You can rescue her from all her troubles. Renew her spirit and restore her will to live. Send healing on the wings of Your Spirit to her. We pray for seeds of faith to be placed in her heart, and that these seeds would grow and strengthen her. Help her to be still and know that You are God. Make haste to help her, O Lord. In the Name of Jesus Christ, Amen.

OK, long overdue ping here. I'm pinging you to this old thread because you said you would pray for my friend Khalida and I want to update you and thank you for your prayers.

It was interesting for me to read this thread and to think of all the things that have happened since this was written. Khalida's cancer was first diagnosed as breast cancer in November 2003, but within a few weeks she was diagnosed with brain cancer and had 3 large brain tumors as well as tumors in other parts of her body. The brain tumors caused frequent, almost daily, seizures and often put her in a coma for hours at a time.

In January 2004 Khalida's doctor told her that she would not be likely to live through the year and suggested that she do whatever she has always wanted to do in her life. My wife and I were very moved that she said she wanted to come and visit us here in Tennessee. I know that I had become like a brother she never had and it was a privilege to think we'd finally get a chance to meet this amazing woman.

In March 2004 Khalida flew out to visit us for 10 days. During that time she and I went to a Christian conference and she received a lot of prayer, but her battles with the brain tumors continued and at least once a day while she was here she had seizures that made her unconscious for anywhere from a few minutes to over an hour. One night her seizure was so severe that someone called 911 for an ambulance, but she regained enough consciousness to say that she refused to go with them.

Khalida's whole life has been full of so much rejection and I guess it wasn't unusual that it would effect our friendship. I frankly found it very difficult to keep healthy boundaries with her because she was so needy and wanted more love and friendship all the time. In the summer of 2004 she suddenly quit calling or writing and for many months we had no word from her. I frankly assumed she had died of the cancer and almost forgot about her.

Then in January 2005 we had a phone call from her that she was doing well, not cancer free but not having seizures any longer and feeling much better. Another several months passed and Khalida again contacted us. She now reports that she is completely cancer-free and feeling wonderful. Even better, in my opinion, is that her husband has also been healed and their marriage has been strengthened. Khalida said that the Lord had really healed her of her rejection issues and she is obviously much stronger in the Lord as a result of that.

Khalida is now very involved in the ministry that God gave her to Muslim women called "Truth Unveiled." She reports that she has led 5 people to the Lord through her ministry and her husband is very supportive and assisting her in the ministry.

Thank you for your prayers. I know that most of you probably did little more than whisper a prayer to the Lord on behalf of Khalida when you first came across this thread, but I want you to know that God honored your prayer. I hope that's an encouragement for you to pray more often for the needs you hear about daily.

Holy Father,

Your daughter, Khalida, has endured so much and has become a mighty witness of Your love and the hope that can only be found in You. Now we pray for an end to this physical affliction, for the devil himself wants her silenced. We stand in her defense, Lord, and we command all disease away from her body in the Name of Jesus Christ. We pray that the spirit of health and wholeness, of energy and endurance, of joy and gladness will be loosed unto her. Father, her healing was already paid for on the Cross of Calvary, and we proclaim it for her. May Your blessings rain down upon her very heart and all of her household, and may her witness of Your love return 40-fold. We ask this in her behalf, in the Name of the Savior Who died for her and for us all. Amen.

Re: Post #75 - I wrote my prayer based on the original post, not realizing there was an update. (Sorry.) Now that I see your update, I praise the Lord for all He has done, and rejoice in all that He is waiting to do.
