MANCHESTER, Conn. -- Frances Katkauskas never dreamed the 12-inch spruce tree she and her husband, Adolph, planted 50 years ago would one day be used as the world's most famous Christmas tree.
But on Tuesday, she stood aside and quietly watched as the now 79-foot, 9-ton Norway spruce was cut down and placed on a trailer bound for New York and Rockefeller Center.

I don't see the article when I click on the link, just a page suggesting that I advertise with their newspaper!

I once took a temporary job cataloguing photos for a business related to the chainsaw industry. There, lo and behold, appeared several official pictures of Ronaldus Maximus and Nancy, festively posing before the White House tree, which had been cut down by a brand 'x' chainsaw.
They take these projects seriesly, and make extensive records of the event.
