I think these are valid arguments, don't you?

As much as I can not stand these friggin TM calls, I still think they should not be barred from calling. If someone doesn't want the calling just say "thanks very much, bye!"

What the hell has happened to us in this country? Our selfish attitudes lead us to use this Do Not Call registry because God forbid we might be "bothered"

Get a life!

That got a little old after the 10th or so call of the evening...

I also got tired of seeing my caller ID having 36 calls to my home while I was at work...I began to wonder if it was telemarkerters or a some burgular "casing" my house to see when I was or was not at home.

Or the dozen calls a day when you are waiting to hear if you got that job or news of a relative at death's door in a hospital across the country, or ...

In other words, we have lives - that's the point.

Absolutely! I pay for my telephone; therefore, I decide how it is to be used. I do not pay that bill in order to allow others to make sales pitches for junk I don't want. I have much better ways spending ny time rather than to continuously say, "No thank you, I'm not interested".

Just make sure you stay off the list, maybe you can take up some of the slack by hosting more of those calls yourself. That way, you can feel that you are helping people who arn't bright enough to get a meaningful job.

I would like to get a life! That's why I don't want to be bothered all hours of the day by these infernal telemarketers. I work hard everyday making a living and I desire quiet evenings at home. Is that so bad? I do not wish to dedicate the remainder of my nights home to being polite to telemarketers who have called my house as many as a dozen times a day. If that makes me selfish, so be it. If you like, you can give me your phone number so I can forward their calls to you.

"Our selfish attitudes lead us to use this Do Not Call registry because God forbid we might be 'bothered'"

Oh, I get it. It's just fine for the harassER to be utterly selfish by barging into MY personal time at MY home, making me get up, answer the phone, so I can walk away wanting to tell this irritating twit to go to hell. But it's not okay for ME, the harassEE, to have some peace and quiet in MY home after MY long day at work doing a real job. As usual (and isn't this classic liberal philosophy?) it's okay for people to inflict themselves on people minding their own business, but people who want the freedom to CHOOSE not to be harrassed by these whining adult juvenile delinquents (democrats, liberals, socialists, communists, PETA disciples, Saddam sycophants, 'social justice' dweebs (Did You Hug Your Telemarketer Today?), etc.) are somehow 'selfish', yegods, absolute criminals...

You think it's selfish I don't want telemarketers calling me?

I am disabled and am in chronic pain. I don't sleep well at night and so must attempt to nap during the day. Invariably I am disturbed during my attempts at napping by people hawking things I don't want and don't want to hear about. Yes it bothers me to be disturbed when I just might be finally getting some rest. Rest for me means a little less physical pain.

I own my phones, I pay for the use of the phone line and you're telling me I'm selfish because I don't want telemarketers to call me using my money? Ah yes, I can always contract with the phone company to pay additional money to block what I never requested in the first place.

Yesterday evening I called SBC and threatened them with a lawsuit. About 6 weeks ago SBC started offering dsl service in my area. I was receiving phone calls every day and there were 3 days where I was called in the morning and afternoon. In response to 3 of those phone calls I requested they put me on their do not call list. On one of those calls the telemarketer wanted to get into a pi$$ing contest about who would hang the phone up first. For 2 weeks I didn't receive a call from SBC and then yesterday afternoon they woke me up again.

I again told the telemarketer to put me on their do not call list and I disconnected from the call. I then called SBC and told them to take me off of their call list. They started out telling me they'd make a note but I'd need to call another number to officially remove me. Oh, but I'd have to call today because their offices were closed at the time. I then threatened to sue them if I received one more call for SBC dsl. Finally they were willing to listen to me.

The funny thing about all of this is if they had left me alone I would have called SBC myself for dsl service because it's 15.00 cheaper than what I pay for cable modem.

Please give us your number...we can all call you at 6 PM! What has happened to this country? 30 years ago...10 people didn't call you while you were trying to eat dinner. You get a life...I have other things to do besides answer calls I don't want and hear my phone ring...all the while trying to decide if that "unavailable" number is someone calling with an emergency that my caller ID is not picking up or if I am just going to waste my time.

I have the right to say "don't call my house...and if you do...I will call the police..." I pay the bill...YOU DON'T.

Now...if YOU want to pay MY phone bill...then you can tell me to get a life all you want...and I will take my name off the list and say "thanks very much, bye!" all night long. Deal? Didn't think so.

Again...put your money where your mouth is and post your phone number since you don't care and we are all being selfish. You can easily say "thanks very much, bye."

This is more than being bothered. They have woken my sleeping babies. They have disturbed lots of meals. I don't turn off the phone because I actually have real important phone calls from my husband and other family members.

I can remember getting numerous telemaketer phone calls while I'm waiting for a doctor to call me back because I have a sick kid at home. I don't need that.

I have a life, and it involves working graveyard shifts. These excrement heads call at all hours of the day, and usually call back right after I have told them 'no' becuase they are too stupid to keep track of what number they just called. Perhaps you could give me your phone number, and I could repeatedly call you between the hours of 10 pm and 5 am your time? Then you might have some understanding of the people that you tell to 'get a life'...JFK

I don't understand why so many people feel compelled to answer their phones. A few years ago, I got caller id, an answering machine, and a phone whose ringer can be turned off. When I go to bed, eat my dinner, or just want quiet, I turn the ringer off on my phone and pick up the messgaes later. When the ringer is on, I look at caller id and answer only those callers I recognize and feel like talking to. I'm irritated when I call someone and he answers, "Now is a bad time". I always think, "So why did you answer the phone?"
