A leading Saudi government cleric and author of the country's religious curriculum believes Islam advocates slavery.

"Slavery is a part of Islam," says Sheik Saleh Al-Fawzan, according to the independent Saudi Information Agency, or SIA.

Sheik Saleh Al-Fawzan

In a lecture recorded on tape by SIA, the sheik said, "Slavery is part of jihad, and jihad will remain as long there is Islam."

His religious books are used to teach 5 million Saudi students, both within the country and abroad, including the United States.

Al Fawzan – a member of the Senior Council of Clerics, Saudi Arabia's highest religious body – says Muslims who contend Islam is against slavery "are ignorant, not scholars."

"They are merely writers," he said, according to SIA. "Whoever says such things is an infidel."

Al-Fawzan's best-known textbook, "Al-Tawheed – Monotheism," says most Muslims are polytheists, and their blood and money are therefore free for the taking by "true Muslims."

SIA said although the Saudi government claims religious curriculum is being reformed, Al-Fawzan's books are still in wide use.

Al-Fawzan is a member of the Council of Religious Edicts and Research, the Imam of Prince Mitaeb Mosque in Riyadh and a professor at Imam Mohamed Bin Saud Islamic University, Saudi Arabia's main center of learning for the strict Wahhabi interpretation of Islam.

SIA noted Al-Fawzan, a leading opponent of curriculum reform, opposes elections and demonstrations as Western influences, is against Arab women marrying non- Arab Muslims and has issued a fatwa forbidden the watching of television.

Al-Fawzan has threatened to behead a Saudi writer and scholar, Sheik Hassan Al-Maliki, for his criticism of Wahhabism, according to SIA. Al-Maliki was fired from his position with the ministry of education after writing a 50- page paper criticizing Al-Fawzan's book "Al-Tawheed."

and jihad will remain as long there is Islam

So I guess...eliminate Islam and jihad is eliminated, eliminating slavery.

Islam is just full of goodies isn't it. So if he believes in slavery I guess this means he won't mind washing my car when we finish grinding them under our heels?

the sheik said, "Slavery is part of jihad, and jihad will remain as long there is Islam."

As President Bush said... "a FAKE religion".

says Muslims who contend Islam is against slavery "are ignorant, not scholars." "They are merely writers," he said, according to SIA. "Whoever says such things is an infidel."

I'm conflicted. Does this mean I'm still an infidel if I happen to agree with this guy? That slavery and Islam are hand in hand? The whole basis of Islam's teachings seem to be reliant on slavery: forcing the masses to swallow every word of it.

Do these men really realize the end of the road for the course they are advocating?

There are three major possible resolutions to the culture war between Islam and the rest of the world:

1. Islam takes over the entire world, including the United States and the rest of the West.

2. Islam reforms and learns to live with the West and India/China/et.al.

3. The hoof and mouth cure. If there isn't any hoof and mouth any more, there won't be any in the future and the problem is solved.

I regard #1 as least likely. It's only possible if we simply give in. From a strength perspective, we have all the cards in our hand.

I hope and pray to see #2, and we are making good progress on forcing them down that course.

But if we can't make #2 work, the next option is the annihilation of Islam. And I believe if they push the United States far enough, say by smuggling nuclear bombs into some of our cities, that may very well be the outcome.

That is to be expected from a government that thinks murdering babies is okay. I was reading that the Saudis muderer one-third of their own babies -- cut their heads off, chop them up, throw them in the garbage.

Ah, wait a minute. Now that I think about it, maybe that wasn't Saudi Arabia. I think it was some other country. I think it was -- ahhhhhh -- oh well, never mind.

Gee does Calypso Louie know this? Someone should tell him; not that he’d believe it but someone should tell him anyway just to see his expression.

Slavery, misogyny, genocide, "honor" killings, rape, pillage, homo-cide (yes, that kind of homo), torture. I wonder what America's left has in common with these folks?

"Slavery is a part of Islam..."

The other parts are: lunacy, murder, mayhem, destruction, death, terror, backwardness, etc.

"Slavery is part of jihad, and jihad will remain as long there is Islam."

And how many souls are there under the slavery of Islam?

Slavery is a part of the Religion of Peace as Mo himself owned slaves. Why in heavens name are SOME (not all)Afro-Americans turning to being Muslims when those are the very people that sold them into slavery? It was a terrible thing. The only good part is that a lot of people who were held in bondage eventually "grew" from their oppression.

The Jews, enslaved by the Egyptians made something of themselves - big time. American Blacks have the same opportunity. They are in the greatest country in the world with great economic potential. Many of them have benefited, even if they believe they were discriminated against. No "Moslem" nation has grown as we have;, people are not murdered as a matter of policy or politics, people are not starved, macheted, shot, or have burning tires hung around their neck. Basically, turning Muslim, the avowed enemy of the US, is the antitheses of the religion any one should turn to for guidance.

I have a question about this alleged cleric: if he really believes that Islam advocates slavery, why doesn't he become someone's slave?

Well, I hate to say this, but in the old south, the KKK and other radical racist organizations took Christianity away from the black people. They twisted it into only the white faith, and some blacks turned to Islam for that reason. Which is very sad. Thankfully, southern whites have turned away from such beliefs and admitted their error. Americans do try to live up to their ideals. The best way to reach out to black muslims in America is admit past mistakes and tell them they're invited back to the true faith with open arms.

Indeed so. Preferably by nukes on Mecca at the height of the Haj. Also, let's tie several liberal traitors to each nuke, a la Slim Pickens.
