I really don't think it matters calling Edwards office unless you are from IA or NH

It may not change his mind, but it may stop his staffers from carrying on wiht their other diabolical business. Who knows? Maybe somebody's conscience, somewhere in Edwards' world will be swayed.

You could call our Republican senator and thank her for sticking it out!

I have called and written those two lying scumbag RATs all I can bear to write them for the time being. My phone bill won't tolerate more of those long distance calls.

Oh - and why do you have Mark Pryor listed with an (R) next to his phone numbers?

These two are dead set to tow the party line, regardless of the will of their constituents. They have learned from years of the same-ole politics in Arkansas that there are too many uneducated idiots that don't really care about politics to remember such disregard for the will of the people at the next election.

Quite frankly, I wouldn't relieve my bladder on either one of them if they were on fire. I am praying daily for help from the Lord to help me not feel so non-Christian about these two.

I don't understand this. If there's only 1 democrap present, what's to stop the Republicans from calling for an immediate vote of cloture. As long as there's at least 51 senators present, a cloture vote could be held at any time. It seems to me that the democraps would have to keep all of their people there in order to prevent cloture votes from succeding.

They first have to call off the 50 names to see if there is quorom. That takes time. Once that is done each vote is set up to last a certain period of time (say ten minutes) which is more than sufficient for the Senators to go from their offices to the floor to vote. The Dems get their rest in their offices while the Republicans pull an all nighter.

All this will do at most is get free PR for what is going on with the judicial nominations. The DEms will not be defeated by the stunt and its doubtful they will lose as much sleep as the Republicans. I think its a mistake to announce thirty hours in advance. Hell make them stay there over the weekend and for a week or more. Then the guys running for President like Kerry and Liebermen will start feeling the pain. This should have been planned for closer to the New Hampshire primary. That would be real pain to be locked up in Washington as their presidential dreams are frittering away.

The poster referred to the notion that Frist should keep them in session with no holidays until the judges were voted on.... Now do you think that Frist has them on board for something like that. I don't know but I could see some grumbling if they couldn't go home, jmo.

No, all Frist has is agreement to go the 30 hours. Not longer. Not over a weekend or for more than 30 hours. Not to do the "Nuclear" option. This is a waste of time other than as a publicity stunt for talk radio to galvanize the base. Its not goign to force the Dems to do anything. Most of them will get a good nights sleep. That aside, I hope they start calling for cloture votes every hour all night long to force the Dems to loose sleep as well but that cant happen. They have to file for the cloture vote in advance and for one vote. I think a lot of you are reading too much into this. Its a start but nada is going to happen.

Nuclear Bump in the night

Dont get your hopes up. Frist doesnt have the Republican votes do try the "nuclear" option. This is primarily something that is just going to make 51 Republicans very tired and cranky while the Dems get to sleep in their offices with their interns.

I'm so glad to see such a thoughtful, detailed response to those constantly caterwauling for the 24/7 scenario. Thank you.

FYI:
At around 10:30 Foxnews started to show a press briefing by Senator Frist and others. I heard Senator Frist say that each (about 6) of them would make a brief statement and then they would be available for questions. One Senator (Sessions? McConnell?) started talking and Fox cut away! No other channel was covering the briefing either.

What is going on? People on this forum like to say that Senator Frist isn't doing anything, but it seems to me that there is a whole lot of selective non-reporting going on.

If this is an example of using the 30 hour marathon to get the message out, I have a sick feeling that the message is STILL not going to reach 'the masses.'

That something is going to happen besides 52 Republicans getting little sleep for two nights.

Nope not me..... I think it's nothing more than a talkathon as has been advertised and nothing more other than maybe a little publicity. Otherwise I expect nothing else.

You are right. There are people and senators doing an unbelievable amount of work. The mainstream media is simply not covering it.

This is why on this thread, I am urging people to write letters to the editors of their local newspapers and call in to local talk radio, so that we can try to get this out in front. Also people should contact their republican senators and support them for fighting back, and their democrat senators and tell them to stop the obstruction.

I am hoping that once the marathon starts, there will be some media coverage. I know there will be many press conferences today and tomorrow, I am hopeful this will get some exposure.

The list needs to be updated, at least for North Carolina...Jesse Helms, alas, is no longer the senior senator from N.C.

We now have Elizabeth Dole, an empty vessel compared to "Uncle Jesse."
