As posted previously, I have confirmed with the Beverly Hills police department that we can assemble on the public sidewalk - right in front of the MAIN ENTRANCE to the hotel:
We will be gathering on the public sidewalk on the WEST side of Crescent Drive, north of Sunset Boulevard.
There is PLENTY of free parking on the side streets near the hotel......in particular, on Crescent Drive just SOUTH of Sunset (marked here in light gray)......across Sunset Boulevard, in the "4 o'clock" position on this map (southeast from the hotel):

LOS ANGELES, CA Ron Smith, Leader of the Free Republic Chapter of Los Angeles, announced today that their organization will hold a rally to protest the Museum of Television and Radio's decision to honor CBS news anchor Dan Rather for his "steadfast commitment to fair and accurate news reporting" at their annual awards dinner Monday night at the Beverly Hills Hotel. From his depiction of Reagan voters as "children having a tantrum", his refusal to tell America the truth about Bill and Hillary Clinton to his powder puff interviews of American enemies like Saddam Hussein, Kim Jong Il and Fidel Castro, Dan Rather has proven he is neither fair nor accurate. He has used his position as CBS anchor to manipulate the truth and provide cover for leftwing causes and the politically correct. The only thing Dan Rather should be honored for is being the least trustworthy network anchor and leading CBS EVENING NEWS to the ratings cellar.
DATE:MONDAY NOVEMBER 10, 2003
TIME: 6:00-8:00 PM
LOCATION: BEVERLY HILLS HOTEL
9641 SUNSET BOULEVARD
BEVERLY HILLS, CA 90210
The press conference and protest will begin promptly at 6:00pm.
For additional information or to schedule an interview please contact Mr. Smith at (310) 416-9155.

- At 6 pm, it will already be DARK.
(The sidewalk is lighted, but please bring FLASHLIGHTS to shine on our signs.)- It will probably also be COLD, and we will be OUTSIDE.
(So please dress WARMLY.)- You will be driving to this FReep in RUSH HOUR.
(So, please LEAVE EARLY - and stay off the 405 freeway.
From the south, take La Cienega, west on Olympic or Wilshire, then north on Beverly.)- This is a VERY NICE neighborhood, and VERY SAFE.
(Plus, the Beverly Hills police will be there.)- There are NO public restrooms nearby. :(
(So please "go" before you arrive.)
This place is one mile SOUTH of the Beverly Hills Hotel, on Beverly Drive.
414 N. Beverly Drive,
Beverly Hills, CA.

Not all celebrity restaurants are expensive - or glitzy. There's nothing glamorous here, folks. Nate 'n Al's is a small, scrappy little deli which has been around forever - and looks like it.
In a way, Nate 'n Al's is the antithesis of the nearby Spago Beverly Hills. The working class waitresses here are unceremonious, but friendly - almost motherly. The menu is huge (packed with hearty pastrami & corned beef sandwiches almost too big to bite), and the prices are very reasonable...
There is $2 "flat rate" public parking on the other side of the street, just past Brighton, in a building with a giant clock tower, which looks like Union Station.
FReep Dan Rather at Beverly Hills Hotel (11/10/03): ,br>Please post YOUR sign ideas here!IMHO, our MESSAGE should be that:

Outraged,
and...
...YOU?
Costimes and signs...I will dressed as Saddam, with a GIANT baseball bat, and GIANT "softballs" - to demonstrate the light-weight questions that Dan Rather gives to murderous dictators - like Saddam Hussien and Fidel Castro...Doctor ZIn will be "Dan Rather" (I think) - to "pitch" those softballs.
Cinnamon Girl will be a left-wing version of "Blind Justice" - to demonstrate Rather's BALANCE, between LEFT and FAR LEFT!
Thanks to an idea by Interesting Times.)
"Blind Justice
Dan Rather is "BALANCED..."
...LEFT and LEFTER!
You do NOT need to wear a costume...But, if you DO want to wear a costume, it could have a BASEBALL theme - like a cheerleader or a baseball fan......and you do NOT need to bring a sign...FReeper diotima will be bringing several large banners created by FReeper abner,...and we will have extra signs for you to hold.
Our agreement with the Beverly Hill police (to get this PRIME FReep location) - was "no amplified sound" - as in no MICROPHONES or BULLHORNS.....but cheerleader cones to shout through might be O.K. :o)
- You will be driving to this FReep in RUSH HOUR.From the south, you can exit on La Cienega - just after Century Blvd...
(So, please LEAVE EARLY - and stay off the 405 freeway.
From the south, take La Cienega, west on Wilshire, then north on Beverly.)
...BEFORE the traffic slows down around LAX......and, drive past the "Kenneth Hahn" regional park...
...to avoid MUCH of the rush hour traffic......then turn left (WEST) on Wilshire...
...and then turn right (NORTH) on Beverly.
Just kidding. ;)
Freep him !! Freep him good !! ...REMINDER TO SELF ! Upload the Rather - REM pic and post it here !! ...
Not to worry. There **is** FREE (legal) parking on Crescent Drive...
...within sight of the FReep. And I **do** know some "Beverly Hills cops" personally :o)
I am confident that we will be O.K. parking there for a few hours.
