If you read the article, it's just a litany of excuses. Similar to what you'd get if you tried to get someone to quit smoking cigarettes.

In other words the fox is in charge of the hen house and the sheriff is afraid to make waves. We would rather not admit that the failed policies have lost the county to its rightful owners - legal citizens!

He doesn't want to learn the paperwork or do the actual work, and he is afraid he might get sued.
These clowns are way to gutless to be law enforcement officers and need to be redirected (fired) to a more suitable occupation.

Well if these cops aren't going to do this, then who will? This country is heading into some serious trouble and the citizens who have done something about illegal aliens, end up being the bad guys. I'm just so disgusted with this issue and as usual........the politicians are NOT listening to the LEGAL RESIDENTS of this country.

Dejavu, all over again.
Word for word this is the same excuse given when the feds insisted border towns pitch in to catch drug smugglers.

They don't have the resources because they have all been sucked up servicing illegal aliens. Nothing wring with asking for ID, except here in California.

I think this bill is good for a start. They do need to stop making excuses.

<< "My guess would be they would be afraid to deal with any sort of authority if they are here criminally," Fazz said. >>
My guess for every last criminal alien invader is that his "being afraid" will be a smart move on his part and a good thing for my America -- and that he wouldn't long be "here criminally."
Tax-payer-parasitical bloody facilitators and enablers like Fazz would round every last one of the mongrels up and send every one back to Hell and/or to whatever other shithole he and his both created -- and came from!
That would be the only sort of "authority" any one of them would ever need to see.

So here are the big four.
1)when you start asking people if they are documented or undocumented, you're taking chances on alienating a whole bunch of people."
2) local law enforcement agencies such as police and sheriff's departments don't have authority to arrest people for violating immigration laws,
3)"We don't have the resources to provide the services
4)Fazz also expressed a concern that the measure would hamper crime investigations in border communities
People won't like us (cops). No jusidiction. Not enough cops. Victims will be afraid to report crimes.
Maybe it's time that cops in that sector were federalized.

Why would LE be afraid of "alienating" the illegal aliens?
These aliens are already alien-ated from our culture and will continue to be alienated. Can they become even more alien-ated?
My head is spinning.
Too much moon-gazing tonight, I guess.

"My guess would be they would be afraid to deal with any sort of authority if they are here illegally," Fazz said. "The Border Patrol, sheriff's (office) and police are all authority figures and they would hesitate to have any dealings with them for fear of being detained." OK, so what's the downside? Still not afraid of the citizens?
How about a Border Patrol Hotline? Citizens call in spottings of illegals and an instant response team hauls buns out to round 'em up.

Yuma County Sheriff Ralph Ogden thinks legislation that would require local and state law enforcement agencies nationwide to arrest illegal immigrants will do more harm than good. Good thing for him that I'm not his boss. If I heard that coming from one of mine, my answer would be direct:
"Turn in your resignation. I need someone who can do the job they're being paid to do."

"I'm not saying illegal immigration is right, but when you start asking people if they are documented or undocumented, you're taking chances on alienating a whole bunch of people." Well, well, well. So this law enforcement type is concerned with alienating a whole bunch of people by asking for papers. What in the hell does this guy think he's doing when making a traffic stop and asking for drivers license and proodf of insurance from the white guy? Making friends? Don't think so.
Last time one of those cowboys pulled me over for going 7 MPH over limit, they alienated my a** but good and he didn't seem to mind one bit!

But we demand that Syria and Iran stop terrorists from crossing their borders to kill our servicemen.
We cannot as the most powerfull and technologically adnaved nation on plant earth keep or borders secure but expect third and heck even fourth world nations to check theirs!
pretty sad.
