My letter to Senator John Cornyn in Texas (and ditto going to Hutchison):

My Dear Senator Cornyn:

I am strongly opposed to the Democrats use of the filibuster to obstruct President Bush's judicial nominations. It is unprecedented in the 219 year history of the Senate. It is abhorrent. It is OUTRAGEOUS. It is unfair to the nominees, the President and the American people. President Bush's judicial nominations DESERVE a straight up or down vote on the floor of the Senate.

Please do EVERYTHING you can to stop the Democrats use of weapons of mass obstruction ! It is UNFAIR !!

I understand that this week the GOP is FINALLY going to force the Democrats to do a real filibuster. I support this and hope it brings national attention to the issue of the Democrats wrongful and unprecedented use of the filibuster to obstruct judicial nominees from getting a straight up or down vote on the Senate floor. I hope it puts the necessary pressure on the Democrats to end this obstruction !

You have my permission to read this letter to the Democrats on the floor of the Senate. Please voice my displeasure and objections with the Democrats obstruction of judicial nominees. In fact, I insist !

Question..... Where are you getting info that the GOP is going to force the Democrats to do a real filibuster? I've not seen that anywhere but may have missed it..

This event this week is a scheduled 30 hr. 'talkathon' by the Republicans to bring attention to the stalling/filibuster of the Democrats. It is my assumption they will be placing into the record a lot of info on each candidate, basis for up/down votes, their understanding of advise/consent, democrat obstructions as they see it, etc. but this isn't a filibuster as I understand it. A filibuster is used by the minority not the majority I think. Thanks ...

Make a couple of free calls to the Senate switchboard 1-800-648-3516.
Call, ask for Senator Kay Bailey Hutchison’s office and then call again and ask for Senator John Cornyn’s office.

Follow up by writing the Senators and any news media that you can think of to gain exposure.

Ask the Senators to

1. Support the filibuster co-sponsored by Senators Frist and Miller to protest the Obstruction of President Bush’s Judicial Nominees. The leaders of this initiative plan a 30 hour “talkathon” to make their point and introduce information on the floor about the nominees that is being blocked by the Democratic Party who refuse to allow testimony and votes on the floor of the Senate. The Democrats are abusing their ability to block all votes in a way that has never been done in the 200-plus years of the Nation: they refuse to allow an up or down vote on candidates that have been nominated by the President and make purely personal, often false accusations against men and women who are serving well in other Judgeships.

2. Support Senator Frist in demanding that the Democratic members of the Intelligence Committee name the author of the memo circulated by one of them that states:

“”"SUMMARY: Intelligence issues are clearly secondary to the public's concern regarding the insurgency in Iraq. Yet we have an important role to play in revealing the misleading, if not flagrantly dishonest, methods and motives of senior administration officials who made the case for unilateral preemptive war.””

This memo exposed partisan political collaboration to use their positions on the Committee to attack the President.
