Now, the poll shows North LA switching to Jindal. Blanco led there in the immediate days after the Oct. 4 primary. With a solid lead in North LA, Jindal should make it!

After Philly, Jindal better hope that Blanco is not under federal investigation.

If Blanco is losing North LA she's done. Between that, Baton Rouge, Jindal's stronger than usual black support and his GOTV machine in St. Tammany and Jefferson Parishes, Jindal may end up the favorite to win this.

A Jindal victory would be hugely significant for the GOP. It would destroy the image of the GOP being a club for David Duke fans.

"...there may be some anti-woman backlash among black males."Could it possibly be because they think Jindal is more qualified, professor Cross?
Besides it's a proven fact that black males are smarter than black females!/sarcasm

I found this interesting.
The polling sample included 300 men and 325 women; 462 whites, 157 blacks and 6 of other races; 383 Democrats, 166 Republicans and 76 independents
Is the Dem registration really more than twice the Republican's? If not, this is really Jindal's race. Notice also that women are slightly over represented, and they lean Blanco. If male-female turnout is equal, it would push Jindal up another tiny bit.

I hope the GOP has their 72-hour program in place and ready to go...I'm sure they do.

The headline makes it sound as if Blanco is is the lead by five points. I had to read no farther than the first line to see otherwise.
I know, symantics and I'm being picky, but, I think it is written that way for a reason.
However, this time I don't mind because if people think Jindal has it in the bag they might not be inclined to go out and vote for him.

Thanks for the info. This must be scary for the Dems, seeing as they do have so many more voters. Their voters are really moving away from them in droves.
To: Republican Red
The headline said: "Five Points Separate Candidates." I changed "Candidates" to Jindal (R) and Blanco (D) because I thought that the word "Candidates" was insufficient for this forum. If I had said "Jindal and Blanco" the misperception could have been avoided. So it makes a difference whether once uses "from" or "and" here.

Yea, LA is about 66 percent registered Democrat. For some reason the popular lieutenant governor is not catching on for the top spot. I don't think a lt. governor has been elected governor in LA in a couple of generations. None of the recent governors were a lieutenant governor: Foster, EWE, Roemer, Treen, McKeithen, Davis, Long, Kennon, Jones. Of those, McKeithen ran unsuccessfully for lieutenant governor in 1952, and Earl Long ran for lt. governor in 1959 and lost. Long was then elected {Democrat nomination} to Congress in 1960 but died before he could assume the seat.
To: Theodore R.
Apparently Louisiana's Lt. Governor post is not fertile ground for recruiting governors. It looks like Blanco may not reverse that trend (though Mitch Landrieu, Lt. Governor to be, might). Apparently it's a rather empty job with few responsiblities, no one seems too hot on it.

The LA lt. governorship is primarily in charge of running the Department of Tourism and Recreation. It is the TX lt. governor who has considerable powers, as we saw demonstrated this year with Lt. Gov. David Dewhurst.

They really threw away the mold with Earl Kemp Long. He was BOTH the most beloved and most hated politician that LA ever produced!

I hope the GOP has their 72-hour program in place and ready to go...I'm sure they do. They do, at least in Jefferson parish. Go to the Louisiana FR Page and see what's set up. It sounds like they REALLY have their stuff together.
Funny... this article talks about the importance of Breaux's endorsement of Blanco over RINO Foster's endorsement of Jindal, yet doesn't even mention the endorsements Jindal received from New Orleans' black Democratic mayor Ray Nagin (which was huge, maybe even HUGH) or the many others he received from black civic groups.
The author must be a typical Lib journalist, no doubt pi$$ed over the fact that his paper (Shreveport Times) also endorsed Jindal! Ha-ha!
BTW, Verne Kennedy's daily tracking poll had Jindal up 48-39 yesterday.
