This thread serves as a place for posting all new general information and references, along with links following Terri's case, plus information on cable news and talk radio shows dealing with the issue, court cases and press releases. This is also the place to post contact information, prayers and general discussion.

If you have something that qualifies as BREAKING NEWS or FRONT PAGE NEWS, please post it on a separate thread in that category in order to give it maximum exposure and then post a link to the article/thread here so that it will be included in the next update of links. Also, if you post links to articles from original sources and there is also a thread on FR, please link to the FR thread. Many original links become corrupt over time and we want to be able to access the information at will.

There was a tremendous amount of information posted on the previous thread. For anyone who hasn't been following the daily threads, links to relevant posts and information from the previous thread are contained in the body of the present one. I have found that very helpful in trying to find something later. You people are doing a spectacular job of getting information out and also in helping to keep all of us updated here. What a great joint effort. This fight, to me, illustrates beautifully what Free Republic is about and what it means to be a FReeper. Way to go FRiends. Keep up the good work!

So Bill Schiavo was alive during part of this situation, but later was starved to death by order of Michael Schiavo. Am I getting this right?

Excellent point. I wonder if MS had BS sign a statement with a boilerplate "do not wish to be kept alive by artificial means." Then when BS could not "eat a ham sandwich" any more (Felos terminology for the simplest thing fallong short of "artificial means" of life support), it was dehydration and starvation city. I wonder if he not only was in agony, but felt very betrayed.

That is my understanding. Schiavo said that he "went through this with both of my parents." And he gloated almost that starvation is a "painless" way to die. He even said that an aneuryism is the best way to go, followed by dehydration/starvation. Methinks he doesn't know what he is talking about.

Baffaloes the heck outta me to. Just having the heart stop (no painful heart attack, just stop) would seem to me to be the easiest.

I don't think anti-seizure medication or any other type of medication would cause significant bone deterioration in just a little over one year. If it did, we would probably have heard about it. This sounds like spindoctoring to me.

If the sister of Michael encouraged him to become a nurse, as she herself was, why would she stop being a nurse? I just think it's a bit odd (or did I misunderstand your previous post?).

No, I was just curious as to your thinking. I mean, isn't it possible that she quit being a nurse to stay home and raise kids or something ordinary like that? I don't know.

I hadn't thought of that....that's possible.

But another thing about the license.....I would think that if she had any desire AT ALL to be a nurse AFTER the kids are raised, she'd keep up her license, which may require a few hours of school each year. Now, you have to admit, that's odd....going to school for so long to get the license, and then to just let it go....

This was on LKL but nobody followed up on it much. We had the exact transcript posted her two or three times last week. No one seemed surprised by this or seemed to think that it had any effect on Terri's fight.

I suppose. I guess I just don't see how the sister-in-law is that much of a factor, other than as an enabler to him.

I remember the part about his going through it with both his parents, but not that his father had any misgivings about it being done to Terri, and, despite this objection, MS did it to his own father anyways....that I hadn't read or heard before.

Trying to lighten it up by spoofing a specific recent troll situation is a way to keep the weight of Terri's fight from squashing me flat. Obviously Dean isn't trolling here, but he sure has said some things that sound like he's pandering to the "right-to-die" crowd. Other than that, Dean is comic relief in and of himself.

And you're right, this is so intense that comic relief and diversion are absolutely essential. That is why I've been scarce this evening. Been over here laughing at Dean and Sidney Blumenthal and fighting the new civil war.
