Krugman implies Mississippi elected Republican governor b/c of racism
New York Times ^ | November 7th, 2003 | Paul Krugman

Posted on 11/07/2003 12:43:26 PM PST by Gdzine

So did Mississippi voters support the Republicans, even though they get very little direct benefit from Bush-style tax cuts, because they — unlike New Jersey's voters — understand the magic of supply-side economics? If you believe that, I've got an overpass on the Garden State Parkway you may be interested in buying.

Now maybe New Jersey voted Democratic because of irrational Bush hatred. But I think it's a lot more likely that white Mississippi voters, unlike their counterparts up north, are still responding to Republican flag-waving — and it's not just the American flag that's being waved.

See people from Mississippi are too stupid to vote Democratic. This is why Mississippi should not be making their own decisions, they need somebody wiser, they need a big brother as you might say, to tell them what is going to benefit them. Now counter what Krugman says here with the interview on the Rush Limbaugh site with Zell Miller.

Boy, with friends like Krugman, the south does not need enemies. What a biased story. One thing Krugman forgets to mention is that the cost of living is much cheaper in Miss. than NJ. Plus I would guess taxes are much less as well. If this does not show the elite liberals attitude towards this part of the country nothing does. I would like to know what some of you southerners think of this article.

Isn't it nice that this piece of crap published this piece of crap today, with all the good economic news coming out. If this liberal moron could be embarrassed, he would be.

Yes and the first thing these 'enlightened" voters in New Jersey are going to swallow is a 10 cent per gallon gas tax hike. The socialists won;t even wait until they are sworn in in January. I saw it coming. The Repubs had Trenton for 10 years and did nothing. They are mostly useless RINO's anyway.

Ole Miss can't be that bad if it can give more to charity per household than New Jersey or for that matter ANY OTHER STATE.

The Bush administration has the two highest ranking Black members in history, and a**holes like Krugman still try to play the Republicans-are-racists card.

Hey krugman!:

What you've just said is one of the most insanely idiotic things I have ever heard. At no point in your rambling, incoherent response were you even close to anything that could be considered a rational thought. Everyone in this room is now dumber for having listened to it. May God have mercy on your soul.

"...white Mississippi voters...and it's not just the American flag that's being waved..."

But the Black voters, who practically vote en masse for the Democratic candidate, would never be accused of Racism.

Now maybe New Jersey voted Democratic...

Didn't they only go +1 in NJ? I hardly call that "voting Democratic"; that's dumb luck. But then, reality never matters too much to Krugman when he's banging out his Bush Hate rants.

That is his metro sexual tie.

Call it Howie with a soft e, not Howard, that's too masculine.

I would like to know what some of you southerners think of this article.

Nothing I haven't heard before - there is no greater hatred and contempt around than that of the New York Times toward the South. The very existence of this part of the country is an affront to the Slimes' delicate sensibilities (Really, any part of the country outside of Manhattan, San Francisco, Georgetown and Malibu is offensive to the Slimes, but the South really drives them over the edge). In the Slimes' perfect world, every white southerner would be stripped of his/her citizenship and thrown into the gulag.
