An article consisting of a manipulation of her by ABC, distorted by the Daily News...

and people are drawing conclusions from it as if it were gospel.

The more I think about this, I can understand how a girl who answers, "I didn't shoot nothing," when asked about her Rambo actions, would feel used by the US military. She joined the Army in order to one day be able to go to college. She was sent into a war zone with an inoperable weapon (which probably saved her life because I bet those Iraqis would have taken her out if she had been firing on them). She should never have been there. She was rescued by an elite rescue squad, and she probably wasn't real familiar with their tactics and actions. Those folks are highly specialized with each member trained to do certain jobs, including providing the best medical care on a battlefield. They are the ones you want to come get you when you're down. These folks came in there after her and faced no fight. They were potentially rescuing a victim of some type of biological disease/virus that could kill even them. The military had to exercise extreme caution because she could have been a carrier, left to be rescued. And this is sounding like some thriller novel, but it was a possibility. Maybe Jessica did not like the overly cautious treatment. Maybe Jessica's family was told things by Army personnel, and they later learned the stories were false. Even Army personnel read newspapers and get stories wrong. Jessica is YOUNG, and she has been through a tremendous ordeal, physically, mentally, and emotionally. Hopefully, she will gain some wisdom from all of this. Someone has mistakenly told her to tell all now while it is still marketable. I think she will change her views over time.

Imagine women in combat in Vietnam. Imagine women in combat in WWII. Do we not have any real men in DC anymore? I would like to hear some of the male politicians say, "I wouldn't send my daughter into combat, and I wouldn't send yours." And hogwash on any feminists saying that women should have the same opportunities as men. How many women market themselves as mercenaries without the promise of a college education and "seeing the world"??????

Gee, Jessica, how about some thanks for them risking their lives to get you out of there.

Such an ungrateful idiot. I have lost respect for her. Maybe our soldiers would have found more favor if one or two had died moving her out of there.

Beginning to sound like all we did was save a liberal shill for future trashing of the Country! Sure hope not! Just goes to show ya what happens when you hang around with managed news media types.

Jessica: "Army used me"

She is capitalizing on respect and admiration that American people have for true heroes, although she is not a hero.
And she is accusing US Army of using her.

Keep in mind that the NY Daily News is one of the media's prime liars. They are spinning Jessica Lynch's comments and taking them out of context to make her and Bush look bad. They want to discredit the military and the Iraqi war. They are in Hillary's pocket.

""Yeah, it's wrong," Lynch said. "I don't know why they filmed it, or why they say the things" they said."

This girl needs to watch a news channel other than CNN. When the news came about her being rescued and the Fox correspondent was interviewing her brother or father, they said they had been watching the coverage on CNN.

"My weapon did jam and I did not shoot, not a round, nothing," she said simply.

Jessica Lynch has angrily accused the Pentagon...

…she said simply.

I see a disconnect here. Jessica is simply telling her story the way she sees it and she realizes that she has been used as a symbol by people with other motives that she has. She has every right to express her opinion. I don't blame her for not being thrilled about the media coverage of her ordeal. Just because she expresses her feelings about this does not mean she has angrily accused the Pentagon of anything. I'm sure that most members of our military are not thrilled with everything that comes out of there... they would be stepford soldiers if they did. She continues to be used by the media...

Of course she was used. That's what she signed up for.

I've always defended this girl, who went through hell. But if she starts dissing the Army, after rescuing her, giving her the best medical care available and affording her the opportunity to cut a sweet book deal, I'll be very disappointed in her.

I don't think the army used Jessica Lynch. Certainly the military feminist lobby subgroup of the army used her, and they have a lot of free access to the media. I suspect this issue of Lynch and the feminazis in DoD is the cause of SecDef's public affairs butch 'spokesperson' (whatever her name was) resigning.

Other thoughts on the irony of war.

1. Lynch is probably alive because her weaponed jammed. During a firefight, the natural tendency is to kill everything shooting back at you. No doubt that is what the Iraqis did.

2. No excuse for her weapon jamming. None. How many times in your life do you cross into enemy territory during a war? Having weapons lock and loaded and ready to fire is the first thing any soldier would ensure he was capable of doing upon crossing the LD.

Lynch says her unit was sent into battle armed only with M-16s - no grenades or anti-tank weapons - and in lumbering trucks

I don't know if this is Lynch, or the media distorting this (probably the latter).

Lynch's convoy wasn't sent into battle. She was a member of a supply company, and they were never intended to "do battle."

An argument could be made that they should have been better armed and protected. And CERTAINLY an argument should be made that women should not have been put so close to battle lines. But it is not true that Lynch and company were "sent into battle."

She also disputed the Pentagon's early version of her capture by Iraqis

Where's that press release Corky? What actually happened is that media published outlandish rumors because they're lazy morons.

This is sad. I hate to disrespect someone who has served our country, but I just don't get where Jessica is coming from.
She said by filming her rescue the military was "using her", but the book deal and movie is not??? You can't have it both ways just because money is involved.
I just don't get it.
