The following is a serious work produced over the last 2 and a half years. It is a subject that will get a lot of attention this month.

Very nice.
There was also a reporter (I'm too tired to look up his name right now, but will if anyone's curious) who actually was making an audio tape at the time of the assassination and captured the sounds of the gunshots. Unfortunately, the tape was accidentally recorded over by the station when he ran off to cover the developing stories that day. Nonetheless, he listened to it once before leaving it at the station, and (unlike everyone who heard the shots live as they happened) he knew they were coming and listened intently to them and counted as they played on the tape. He states that there were clearly three shots, no more, no less.
That's also the number reported by the majority of the "earwitnesses", although some people reported fewer and some reported more.

Maybe not the time or place to say this, but I still think Kennedy was killed because he was ready to unleash the hounds of hell on communism. Didn't Oliver Stone have it exactly backwards? Should it surprise us that Hollywood could try to persuade us that it was patriotic Americans who killed the nation's foremost patriot?
As Aloha Ronnie says, "NEVER FORGET." Bobby Kennedy denied that his brother planned to stop the escalation of US forces in Vietnam. If Kennedy had been reelected, he would have made certain that we fought the war to win.
Mr. Speaker, Mr. Vice President, my copartners in Government, gentlemen-and ladies: The Constitution imposes upon me the obligation to "from time to time give to the Congress information of the State of the Union." While this has traditionally been interpreted as an annual affair, this tradition has been broken in extraordinary times.
These are extraordinary times. And we face an extraordinary challenge. Our strength as well as our convictions have imposed upon this nation the role of leader in freedom's cause.
No role in history could be more difficult or more important. We stand for freedom.
That is our conviction for ourselves--that is our only commitment to others. No friend, no neutral and no adversary should think otherwise. We are not against any man--or any nation--or any system--except as it is hostile to freedom. Nor am I here to present a new military doctrine, bearing any one name or aimed at any one area. I am here to promote the freedom doctrine.

In the book
Alvarez: Adventures of a Physicist by Luis Alvarez, the author describes his analysis of the Kennedy assassination. The best ear-witness to the assassination, he says, was Abraham Zapruder! He was perfectly placed to hear any loud reports from both the book depository and the grassy knoll. With each gunshot, Zapruder involuntarily flinched. Alvarez measured that by measuring the lengths of smeared solar reflections from frame to frame. The moment when Zapruder heard each shot can be pinpointed on the film.
Alvarez also discusses why melons shot with a high-powered rifle are accelerated towards the shooter, rather than away from the shooter.

Right. And a majority also reported all shots came from the same location.

In the book Alvarez: Adventures of a Physicist by Luis Alvarez, the author describes his analysis of the Kennedy assassination. I was looking for that book recently. In the course of working on this study I worked with the other members of the NRC panel and someone else who knew Alvarez well. He sounds like a thoroughly fascinating person.

Court TV's The JFK Assassination: Investigation Reopened, Examines Alleged Audio Evidence of Second Shooter
NEW YORK--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Nov. 6, 2003--
Forensic Files(TM) Special Uses Digital Audio Forensic Technology to Show That "Gunshot" Famous Sounds on Police Tape Took Place After the Assassination; Premieres Wednesday, November 19th at 9:00 PM ET/PT
It was a crime that shocked the world - and sparked an investigation that is still going on today. Even after 40 years, the assassination of John F. Kennedy remains one of the 20th century's most enduring and controversial mysteries. Was there a conspiracy? A cover-up? Was Lee Harvey Oswald the only gunman? As the network of record in forensics and criminal investigations, Court TV's(R) signature series Forensic Files(R) will take a fascinating new look at the forensics behind the Kennedy assassination investigation, including a controversial piece of evidence that may hold clues to whether there was just one gunmen - or more. The JFK Assassination: Investigation Reopened premieres on Wednesday, November 19th at 9:00 PM ET/PT on Court TV. The one-hour special airs three days before the 40th anniversary of President John F. Kennedy's killing.
The explosive theory of an additional gunman first gained wide acceptance during a 1978 congressional investigation into the assassination. Those who supported the theory pointed to a newly discovered recording. It was believed that during the fateful motorcade, a Dallas police motorcycle's microphone was stuck in the "on" position and was recorded on a dictaphone, subsequently recording all the sounds of the assassination. Some experts believed the recording contained audio proof of a second gunman and therefore, a larger conspiracy to kill the President.
"This Forensic Files(R) special has given us the opportunity to re-examine the assassination of John F. Kennedy for the 40th anniversary." commented Art Bell, President, Court TV. "As the Investigation Channel(TM), how appropriate it is that we have discovered some very important information through our own forensic analysis and investigation."
Court TV worked exclusively with Boston-based forensic acoustic expert Bob Berkovitz, who conducted a state of the art digital audio analysis of the Dallas police audio recording that has long been thought to contain the sounds of the gunshots that killed the President. The special documents Berkovitz's detailed testing, including the surprising results which shed new light on this 40-year-old mystery and provided a new forensic perspective. In the end, Berkovitz concluded that this recording does not, in fact, include the sounds of assassination, and that in fact recorded 61.5 seconds after the fateful bullets were fired.
In addition to Bob Berkovitz, other experts appearing in the special include forensic pathologists Michael Baden and Cyril Wecht, former Chief Counsel of the House Select on Assassinations G. Robert Blakey, forensic investigator Dr. John Lattimer and former New York Times columnist Anthony Lewis - among others.
The JFK Assassination: Investigation Reopened was produced by Medstar Television for Court TV. Paul Dowling is the Executive Producer and Michael Joseloff is the producer for Medstar. Ed Hersh, Sr. VP of Documentaries and Specials for Court TV, served as executive producer for Court TV.
"With Forensic Files' proven ability to engagingly reveal how today's forensic science and technology can solve crimes, a special that uses these modern scientific techniques to investigate JFK's assassination was a natural fit," added Executive Producer Paul Dowling.

Congress voting to reopen the Kennedy assassination investigation based on this evidence was not their finest moment.
As time goes by it is becoming clearer and clearer that Oswald was the only gunman. There may or may not have been a conspiracy, but I'm convinced Oswald was the only trigger man involved. The fact that Ruby snuffed Oswald is pretty compelling evidence that this was a mob hit, although it's never been proven to my satisfaction.
In his entire career, my US Senator Arlen Specter got two things right: (1) the single bullet theory; and (2) the Clarence Thomas exoneration. Nonetheless, I'm voting for Toomey and hope to boot Specter's sorry RINO ass out of Washington.
