Senior Senate Republicans said yesterday that unless Democrats disavow a plot to use the traditionally nonpartisan intelligence committee to wage political attacks on the Bush administration, they would consider taking away Democrats' power-sharing privileges.

Sen. Rick Santorum of Pennsylvania, chairman of the Senate Republican Conference, said that if Democrats expect cooperation from the White House in the investigation of intelligence failures that preceded the war in Iraq, "they've got to stop the politics."

Sen. Richard J. Durbin, Illinois Democrat and committee member, suggested it was time to move on. "We need to create an environment of bipartisanship cooperation," Mr. Durbin said. "To have this last partisan fling, this doesn't strike me as cooperative."

F*&k Dick Hed Durbin! You're not getting off easy. One of the guilty party speaks.>:-(

Meanwhile, Sen. Arlen Specter, Pennsylvania Republican and former intelligence committee chairman, has called for an investigation into who wrote the memo and why. "I hope no senators are involved," Mr. Specter said. "But on the face of this memorandum, I think an inquiry has to be made. The intelligence committee cannot function with this kind of cloud hanging over it." Mr. Specter added that the memo controversy, if left uninvestigated, "is a built-in excuse for intelligence agencies not to cooperate."

Arlen is right on the mark hear. Give us Durbin and Rockefeller's heads. An example must be made.

Can you please give us a summary of what Chambliss said?

The first thing he said was that it wasn't the work of a low-level staffer (paraphrasing, here) but that it obviously came from much higher up, highest reaches of the Dem party.

Said that very sensitive intel is sent to this committee, and that Roberts cancelled a meeting of the committee on Friday (iirc).

Edie then added, "How can the WH guarantee the security of the information they send the committee, if they're going to be leaking it--they said in the memo they would leak intelligence."

Chambliss said Rockefeller was not that [traitorous] kind of guy, but guess what--I disagree. The dems are ALL traitors. I bet a lot of those 900 FBI files were on Dems, to keep their traitorous bleeps in lockstep.

BTW, send an email to Rockefeller and Roberts--use these links, tell them what you think:

senator@roberts.senate.gov

So who is this "staffer" who penned this "plot"?

The idea or suggestion that the "lying liberal plotters" can be trusted on any agreement is a joke.

They are filled with "FEAR" not knowing exactly what President Bush has and that is what they are after.

Two reasons for "Independent investigation" "TRASH President Bush with scandal" and get their hands on that "INTEL" they have not seen, while keeping it out of the "PUBLIC" view.

Some of that intel might be about secret deals made by Dems visiting Iraq before the war...didn't a bunch of prominent ones go there?

And just a week or so ago I read where even Slick Willie was advising the 9 weasel democRATS “to appear” (read lie) more centrist for fear of alienating the general populace and losing the election.

Ignorance and arrogance is a volatile combination.

Whole-hearted agreement!

The possibilities are endless of what President Bush has, and they are desperate to get their filthy hands on.

Putin got a show and tell on his last visit.

Monday this week the news on Fox said that the UN guy out of Iraq said that France and Russia had promised Saddam that they would stop President Bush through the UN.

Then there is the "Oil for Food" program run by the UN that a few got rich off of and our own State Department did nothing to end.

bjClinton was telling us to follow "Blix" before "Blix" ever gave his report to the UN.

I could go on and on. There are some who were in power that might have "ALOT" to be concerned about over "INTEL" and they don't know what President Bush has.

And just think...the traitorous democrats won't even disavow the memo, in order to get their hands on the intel...

Somebody has the dems by the shorts...could it be--Billary?

The RATS have been caught red handed but it is not the lead story on Brokaw, Jennings, and Rather. That is the problem. Without talk radio, we wouldn't even know about it.

WHO knows but the holders of that "intel".

What is "almost" funny is that they don't care to take the "heat" for their "plot", so long as they get to see that "intel".

FoxNews is all over it on F&F this morning. Had Saxby Chambliss on, who said it's his opinion that it came from the highest reaches of the dems--meaning, I suppose, Billary.

No, I have no idea. He probably doesn't know either. He knows he's been caught in the act and is trying to put the blame on others. A little like a someone getting caught cheating and blames their spouse for making them do it. He and Byrd make me sick. Proud to say I've never voted for either of them!

I think there are just as many Dems as others who are shaking in their boots over the FBI files that Billary is still hanging on to...too many have flipped on too many issues...Daschle USED to oppose abortion, for instance.

Just my theory.

"Senior Senate Republicans said yesterday that unless Democrats disavow a plot to use the traditionally nonpartisan intelligence committee to wage political attacks on the Bush administration, they would consider taking away Democrats' power-sharing privileges."

This isn't as wishy-washy as it sounds...if followed up with. It forces the dems to openly acknowledge wrong do on the part of some of their members, which would justify reshuffling some positions, or stonewall and justify the Republicans reshuffling anyway.

Interesting.
