News Advisory:
American Life League's Crusade for the Defense of Our Catholic Church will hold a press conference this Monday, Nov. 10, to unveil its new ad, "U.S. Catholic Bishops' Guide to Washington, D.C." The ad and the press conference will address the frustration Catholic faithful feel regarding the chronic inaction some bishops display toward wayward, pro-death Catholic public figures. "We're seeing supposedly Catholic politicians embracing everything from the barbaric partial-birth abortion procedure to the starvation of disabled persons such as Terri Schindler Schiavo," said Judie Brown, president of American Life League. "In large part, it is because of too many bishops' lack of action in these matters that members of their flock could be so misled."
Following remarks by Brown, the Rev. Thaddeus Malanowski, Roman Catholic monsignor, (Brig. General) U.S.A. (Ret.) will address the need for action by his brother priests to defend the Church's teachings and to actively work with the Catholic faithful to build a true culture of life. Msgr. Malanowski is the Catholic priest who was threatened with arrest for attempting to administer the sacrament of Holy Communion to Terri Schindler Schiavo.
Also addressing the press conference will be Monica Migliorino Miller, Ph. D. Miller is an associate professor of theology at St. Mary's College of Ave Maria University in Orchard Lake, Mich., and director of The Church and Truth Project.
The ad will run Nov. 10 in the Washington Times and subsequently in several national newspapers.

A bishop's guide to Washington:
Travel tip #1: When in nation's capital, seek out lost congressional sheep On Monday, Nov. 10, American Life League's Crusade for the Defense of Our Catholic Church will unveil its latest ad, "A Catholic Bishop's Guide to Washington." The two-page ad will run on the first day of the United States Conference of Catholic Bishops' semi-annual general meeting in Washington. The ad, in clear, unequivocal language, challenges the bishops to use their proximity to Capitol Hill to their advantage by engaging wayward members of the flock who consistently vote pro-abortion while publicly claiming to be Catholic.
"One of the greatest failures of the pro-life movement has been the reluctance of too many bishops to lead by example and take the needed actions to enforce the Church's teachings on the sanctity of all human life," said Judie Brown, president of American Life League. "Had more of the bishops done their job properly, we would have fewer pro-abortion Catholic senators such as Ted Kennedy and John Kerry."
Over the past year, ALL's Crusade has worked to point out and assist in correcting the ongoing problem of politicians who claim to be Catholic, while openly supporting abortion on demand. However, the campaign has drawn a tepid response from many of the bishops.
"Christ said the good shepherd would leave his entire flock to recover one lost sheep," said Joseph Starrs, director of the Crusade. "We are asking bishops to make the four-block trip from the Hyatt to the Capitol to actively reach out to these misguided members of Congress to make sure they clearly understand that you cannot be Catholic and support abortion."
The ad will run Nov. 10 in the Washington Times.
