Foreign money in the 2004 presidential election.

According to an article in today's Swedish newspaper "Aftonbladet", one third of the members of www.moveon.org are non-americans. The article further suggests that contributing money to this "politically independent" (their words) organization is a great way for non-americans to influence the 2004 presidential election and create a regime change in 2004.

I guess there is no way to remove foreign money from our our elections.

Let them pump their money into our economy. I'm sure those weasels at moveon.org won't manage it effectively.

You'd be surprised. Indictment and prosecution work wonders. Now, I just wonder why these proven tactics aren't used more frequently...

I always said the Euroweenies have a hand in this election. They are working very closely with the Democreeps and know exactly how to use that money to organize protests against Bush here and abroad. All of protestors bought and paid for by MoveOn. Apparently the liberal media has not will not picked up on this

My great fear. Just think about it. If you are a Syrian dictator or a Saudi prince and you want to get back to the good old days of the 90's where the U.S. was all talk and no action then your best investment is Howard Dean and the Dems. Trust me, the money will flow like water.

There was another thread earlier about a meeting between important Dems and various European socialist leaders (including Robin Cook) to work out some way of bringing the US into alliance with the socialist parties if the Dems win in 2004. It was pretty detailed and worth reading. I've got to go look for it again...

I remain highly suspicious of Dean's internet fundrasing. I think it would be quite easy to launder foreign cash through credit cards, expecially if you had a complicit bank to help you out.

It probable would be with some effort.... But then President Bush raised lots of money in small amounts over time during the 2000 primary.... So maybe Dean has some network that we don't know about but I would question his being that well known across the political fundraising venue.

INteresting way to launder foreign money for the Democrat party here.

Smells of a McAuliffe plan? What was he doing in Taiwan last month, raising money?

Lots of suspicious stories cropping up lately, for example...

deport, you don't think like a criminal democrat. With some effort, I am able to do this (LOL).

Foreign emissary deposits big stash in American bank who is willing to help (like...oh...I don't know...CITIBANK.)

Bank makes up a bunch of bogus credit cards with limits just under $250. Each card charges the maximum allowed without reporting to the FEC ($250). Cards bill the bank account of the foreign emissary. No red flags because they are all small donations byt credit card. No one checks who owns the credit card accounts.

I have been thinking about this for quite a while.I am almost sure that is how Dean is getting his money.

Sure, some donations come from college kids, profs, and Hollywood. But I bet a lot is from illegal sources that are very well-hidden.

Bush got a lot of small donations, but most were checks from people like me. I will point out that my two democrat relatives haven't donated a dime to the democrats in years. They assume the unions and Hollywood will carry the burden. People like them aren't giving money to Dean.

This campaign is operating under the new CFR rules isn't it...... I"ve not looked at the FEC disclosure forms to see what percentage of money he's getting in small donations and from what states, etc....

Hey off to get a few road miles in on the bike... It's nice out, pc with a little north wind....

the last I saw Dean was claiming to get an "average" of $82 dollars per person

Here is one of the emails from Moveon.org ... Hmmm, maybe I should sign up for Dean mailing list too

Dear MoveOn member,
Today, MoveOn.org Voter Fund is launching Bush in 30 Seconds, a political TV ad contest to help us find the most creative, clear and memorable ideas for ads that tell the truth about George Bush's policies. You don't have to be trained in the art of filmaking to participate, you just need to be ready, willing, and able to turn your clever ideas into a real 30 second ad. We want to run ads that are of the people, for the people, and by the people.

Joining us in this effort is a great panel of celebrity judges, including Jack Black, Michael Moore, Donna Brazile, Gus Van Sant, Michael Stipe, Margaret Cho, and Moby (there's a full list on the site below). MoveOn members will pick 15 finalists; the panelists will pick the winning ad and help generate some good press coverage for it.

The prize? Just in case getting your work seen by our judges and thousands on our web site isn't enough, we'll put the winning ad on TV during the week of Bush's State of the Union Address. All 15 finalists will also be featured in an email to the MoveOn membership. The ad doesn't need to have TV production values -- it's the idea that counts. We'll reshoot the winning ad if we need to in order to air it.

Last week, we launched a fundraising campaign to to take the truth about George Bush's policies to voters in battleground states. The response has been phenomenal -- over $2.3 million of our $10 million goal came in in under three days. Your contributions will help us get our first ads on the air in swing states in a matter of days. Now we need your help to ensure that the campaign is truly creative.

Interested in making a 30-second spot for Bush in 30 Seconds? Check out the website below for more details. Know someone who might be willing and able to make a great ad? Please pass this message on.

You can learn more about the contest and get the complete guidelines at:
http://

If you have an idea for an ad, but not the time or the equipment to shoot it, you can post your ideas on our discussion board at:
http://www.

Willing to help spread the word? Download the poster at the link below, print up a bunch of copies, and post it where likely participants might see it.
http://

$25 donation by $25 donation, MoveOn members are changing the political landscape. We're reminding the political establishment of the immense power of people working together. But even more powerful than our money are our ideas. The next "Daisy" ad is out here somewhere. Please help us find it.

Good luck and have fun!

Sincerely,
--Carrie, Eli, Joan, Noah, Peter, Wes, and Zack
