Okay, this is a vanity--my first and only.
That said, I want Rockefeller to resign, and I want to see Freeper opinions on this. I think the memo he claimed a staffer wrote is at LEAST a first cousin to treason, as Zell Miller said, and I am furious that the story isn't getting more traction.
This isn't just another example of business as usual in DC, this is a case of Democrats using intelligence vital to our war effort in Iraq as a tool to win an election against President Bush next year, no matter the cost in human lives!
The author of the memo should resign. Rockefeller, if he DIDN't write it, should disavow it, and SO SHOULD EVERY OTHER DEMOCRAT ON THE COMMITTEE, publicly!
We can't let the media carry the water on this one--they won't! We can't let the Senate carry the water on this one--they won't!
We the people have to insist that there is NO place for this kind of partisanship in this committee at this time--and Rockefeller must resign.

We, here on FR, can do so much--each of us can send a letter, an email, we can build threads post by post and tell media friends, we can join like-minded people and actually be heard--
And by the way, ROCKEFELLER MUST RESIGN!

I agree! As you said also, this doesn't seem to be getting much traction. Of course, I know why, it's because it involves the Dems. If this was a Republican thing, everytime I turned on the TV, it would be in my face.

The state didn't have to allow residents to eat roadkill - they were doing it anyway because, no matter how much $$$ pours into W.Va. and no matter how many roads, bridges, outhouses, schools and parking garages bear Robert C. Byrd's name, there still are a lot of people here living in abject poverty (that ol' Democrat plantation mentality).I put a little plaque on my kitten's litter box naming it the "Robert C. Byrd Rest Area".
To: Grit
Sometimes I wonder why I bother donating to the whimpy-butted Republican party. Guess I'm hoping money will help them grow spines. Sigh.
Let Rockefeller have it. Why? Hillary has Robert's number?
To: cowgirlcutie
If there is no consequence for bad behavior, it will only teach Rockefeller that he can do the same thing again, give the same lame excuses, and we, here in flyover country, will sit still for it.
I say let there be consequences. If the only credible, strong consequence is people from FR emailing him and demanding his resignation day by day, for the slimy betrayal of the safety of our troops and the use of secret information to embarrass the president in an election year--if that's the only consequence he gets, then let it be so.
But let it never ever let up.
The bleeping traitorous bleep should frikken resign.

That's just what tees me off to no end. If a Republican senator or congressman does something the least bit offensive, they DEMAND resignation and its done, and the news programs scream about the "horrid" person until it makes you want to throw up. NOW, we have this situation and the only people talking about it is Fox News and conservative talk show hosts. You're right...we have to DEMAND resignation until they're sick of hearing it!
To: cowgirlcutie
I'm off tomorrow, working Saturday and Sunday.
I'm going to bump this thread, and keep encouraging people to email Rockefeller at
senator@rockefeller.senate.gov and keep demanding that he resign.
That memo is traitorous. There is NO side issue he can bring up that will make that go away.

I sent this email to Fox and Friends this morning---they're going to have Saxby Chambliss on:
"I am outraged at the memo. Rockefeller is planning to use information gained while serving on that Intel committee to try to defeat President Bush in an election year, with no thought of the safety of our troops overseas or the success of the war.
An apology is NOT enough. Rockefeller MUST resign.
This will NOT go away."
Judy (my city)
I recommend everyone keep up the emails. Our voices will give them courage to take the stand that MUST be taken:
ROCKEFELLER MUST RESIGN.

The reason it isn't getting more traction is because the big three networks are doing their duty to their avowed oaths to help defeat Bush at any and all costs.
Without question, if the Reps had done this dirty deed it would have been seen by those would-be god makers as on a par with Nixon's Watergate, if not more infamous.
Which is why it is up to us to not stand for this. I would be willing to travel to DC to protest the dastardly Rockefeller deed. But I do have a business to run so it should be at either end of the weekend.
The senate Reps need to simply shut down the intel comities activities until Rockefeller leaves... just like the Dems drove Sen. Lott out of his position (only in that case I didn't really care because of Lott's week-kneed, noodle spined, plastic hair, wussied, lack of taking a stand for anything against the ideologues on the left...)
To: Godfollow
But WE can make a difference right now, without travelling anywhere, here on our computers!
There's a fax number for Rockefeller in post 175, above, and you can email Senator Roberts, chairman of the committee, to let them know your thoughts.
Your point about the "big 3" networks was well taken, but THEY are not in control anymore.
WE are.
Good work, and thank you. The warrior spirit is alive and well at FR. We encourage our senators when we email them with our thoughts, and my thought is:
ROCKEFELLER MUST RESIGN!
