The Rev. Al Sharpton implored Senate Democrats yesterday not to filibuster President Bush's nomination of California Supreme Court Justice Janice Rogers Brown to the nation's second-highest federal court.

Justice Brown, who is black, has come under intense criticism by liberal black groups, such as the NAACP, and by Democrats on the Senate Judiciary Committee. The panel plans to vote this morning on her nomination to the U.S. Court of Appeals for the D.C. Circuit.

>>>>>>>"I don't agree with her politics. I don't agree with some of her background," said Mr. Sharpton, who is seeking the Democratic nomination for president. "But she should get an up-or-down vote."

That, ladies and germs, is the sound of leadership!

"We've got to stop this monolith in black America because it impedes the freedom of expression for all of us,"

My Gawd, Al SHarpton as the most reasonable Dem candidate. The world has stopped spinning on it's axis...

There is a powerful ad running against Edwards with regard to his opposition to Janice Brown.

He is not running for Senate but he may be running for Veep and this will make things VERY difficult for him.

You know, half the time Sharpton says things that are sensible, and then he comes out with just some idiotic things. His eyes are half-opened.

There is also a black activist lawyer who is livid with the NAACP for opposing her. He is on Fox. Usually I have to hit mute when he is on because he shouts so much, and is so angry. Now he is angry with the NAACP for the opposition to Judge Brown. I think his name is Leo Turrell.

It is a world gone mad. This isn't the first time this campaign where Sharpton has come across as the most sane of the Democrat candidates.

However, it is still a disgrace that he is at that level. Crown Heights, Tawana Brawley? The man deserves to be shunned, not respected, even if now he is entertaining and occasionally gets things right.

Sharpton, remember, has been an intellectual gadfly throughout the campaign. He's no idiot. He understands that the Donkeys aren't going anywhere unless they find a way to win in the South. White Democrats privately look on Sharpton as a joke. However, his debating skills have outshone the other Rats. He has positioned himself superbly within the black community and has been able to supress the Tawana Brawley affair that white liberals (such as Begala) used against him.

In short, Sharpton is a mine canary. The other Dems don't see it. Sharpton goes to the churches. He sees it.

Be Seeing You,

Chris

Of course he deserves to be shunned. But in his community in particular, and in the Democratic Party as a whole, he will be forgiven as Clinton was.

That is simply the reality.

Be Seeing You,

Chris

supress the Tawana Brawley affair
Which, reprehensible as it was, was nothing compared to the atrociousness of Crown Heights.

Al is a horrible race-baiting flake who is responsible for many millions of dollars wasted on legal proceedings, the destruction of innocent people, and even a number of deaths. That he appears to be the most sensible member of the Democratic party tells you all you need to know about the Dems.

Incidentally, he's getting the Teddy Kennedy treatment from the press - you know, a clean slate, all that bad stuff just slipped down the memory hole.

Still, I don't care who gets them to let Judge Brown out of committee, just as long as they do.

Who cares what Al Sharpton says? He is a "goof" candidate who only wants to be introduced as "former Presidential candidate" wherever he speaks when the election is over. The media should not fall for it. He will always be "the Reverend Al Sharpton".

"It's inexplicable to me," Mr. Bond said. "I cannot think of a response. But nonetheless, that election does not invalidate any of the things [we] have said."

LOL...classic liberal thinking. The facts don't match up with my narrow ideological view, therefore I am simply disregarding them.

DEM: Our party represents the people.
REP: The people just voted down your argument in a landslide.
DEM: Yeah, but they're wrong. Our party represents the people.

Okay, I get the impression here that Sharpton senses the quiet 'strategery' of the Bush Administration to paint the democrats as being Racist. He smells the smoke from the democrat Mississippi and Kentucky gubernatorial defeats and is looking for a way to mitigate that failure.

I've said it before...Shaprton is the only genuine candidate for the Rats (which is pretty sad). You get what you see with him and he has no hidden agenda's. He makes it known he hates just about everything that's white and republican!
