Ahhh, My Two Cents Thursday. Got my 'puter up and running just in time for another look at current events with a twist of reality vs fiction as presented by you two.

The graphic presentation is outstanding, Billie. Always enjoy a visit to your profile page to view your handiwork.

John, it's too bad your snoring drowned out CNN's new comedy series, "The Metrosexual Nine." The pilot was a huge failure. The Neilsen's I'm sure gave it a market share equivalent to Joe Lieberman's (whoever that is) poll numbers.

Now I must go re-gain my composure. The laughter brought on by this essay has left a smile on my face (not to be confused with the goofy grin of Dean).

I wanted to update you all on our friend Russ' condition.
This is the latest e-mail from his wife Dawn.
Now i'm gonna try and get some sleep, to much coffee at Prayer meeting tonight..
Good Night to the finest !

I want to update the prayer focus points and also let you know that Russ has been on the 7th floor for close to a week now and he is getting very good care there. Generally the hospital likes for the patient to spend at least a week there b/f they travel to another floor.

A member of the rehab team has said to me that he is ready for the rehab floor and beds are open there. She thinks that he will do well and progress quickly there getting 3 hrs a day of rehab work. She thinks that he is ready to swallow, so that he can eat. He seems to be moving his lips like he wants to talk. He is responsive to her, seeming to answer yes and no questions with very slight nods of his head.

I think that he recognizes those of us who see him regular, and he brightens up and smiles at us. How much beyond that he really understands we dont really know. He has severe brain damage and so this will be windy walk up a hilly road.

He is moving his arms more and more every day, and touched his face today. He is still not moving his lower body. I believe that, based on his excellent breathing, coughing up, and with him eating soon, his tracheotomy will be gone in a few weeks if not sooner.
Our prayers are being answered! This is my second list and I am ready to take 2 points off of the list. Once Russ gets into rehab and we have really specific physical goals for him to reach, I will be adding those onto the list.

1. That Russ enter into this new phase restfully and peacefully. ANSWERED!
2. That any infections of any kind will be kept out of his body. ANSWERED!
3. That the Lord would enable Russ to continue to clear his own lungs more and more. CLOSE TO BEING ANSWERED.
4. That whatever stage Russ is in, that he would be able to understand at some level how much he is loved and that he is safe.
5. That Russ's spine would re-generate at a vigorous pace.
6. That Russ will receive exceptional care on the 7th floor and stay there for a short while before moving to the rehab floor.


Finally, I want you all to know why I sign off as, under His wing. It comes from psalm 91, which I read and memorized while I was sitting those endless hours in the emergency waiting room waiting to hear the news on Russ.

I did this b/c I refused to let fear and despair strangle me in that room. I believe that I was ready to hear the bad news b/c this is what I did instead of letting my mind run wild.

When I heard the doctors say how bad it was and that he might not make it through the night, I was not only calm but sure that he would make it. I just happened to have had a prayer card with me with that verse on it and it gave me great comfort and strength as it still does.
