Fortunately for your brother we aren't discussing what he and his unit did.

If they did what you imply, then keep the gorey details out for sure. There is no statute of limitations for war crimes so don't mention it again, you only jeopardize your brothers welfare (I'm genuinely concerned about that).

If atrocities are discovered or even falsely alleged that is a PR hit to our men in theater now. You may think PR is too PC to worry about but good PR saved a hell of a lot more lives than bad PR ever has.

Okie Dokie - have it your way.

Guess the USMC officer was correct in his assessment.

Too bad.

Whats next War Crime Tribunals for all living veterans who defended America...

They wont try Lon Horuchi but they will this man?

Hey why dont you look into Colon Powell for his role in covering up My Lai
or better yet look into under Sec State Armitage....whoops dont wanna go there...

But a Lt. Col who fires a weapon "Near" a POW to get him to devulge plans to wipe out Americans is a CRIME

Wholly crap...what kind of Kafka'esque military have we saddled ourselves with...

This guy is a Hero...he did the right thing..(imo he didnt go nearly as far as the situation warranted..)

He got the job done ..saved lives..and the prisoner still has his health...(and his testicles)...

If this is how the US treats its fighting men....they will no longer fight...for fear of getting into trouble...you may as well disarm them...and paint targets on them..

I would check and see if the JAG OFF has been to a mosque or islamic center lately for indoctrination...he ought to be charged imo..for sedition

I still say that the Right Honorable Gentleman should be promoted from LTC to Col.

As for your other statements, I say this.

You were told in boot camp that assume could be used as one word or three words. Such as ASS-otta-U-and-ME. You, assume too much.

I was also enlisted, 0311. Served also in combat. I went on to better myself and become an Officer.

One should not assume too much.

I would have done the same thing to this Iraqi. I would have made sure that no one would be present during interrogation.

That way I would reduce the number of times the USMC would have to knock on a next- of-kin door and bring bad news of a Marine death.

Like I said, maybe you should volunteer for that duty. You could tell the family that the UCMJ bureaucracy did all it could do to save their son. No one was hurt and lives were saved. You seem to have no problem being a military bureaucrat.

If I were to walk pass this LTC one day, I would stop, and give him my best salute until he was out of my line of sight.

Like Pres. Lincoln said when informed of the victorious Gen. Grant's drunkard ness, "Buy that man a case of what ever he is drinking."

Promote that man to Full Col.

Again, you are dismissed.

"Would I fight under Col West? In a heartbeat."

Add me to the list.

Ditto.

Ok answer a question for me. We signed the Geneva convention that gives prisoners of war certain rights.

I suggest that you re-read the article. The bastard was not a POW, he was a spy. And, according to the Geneva Conventions, a spy can be shot.

That sound like the thinking of a military leader interested in only two things:

#1: Winning the war.

#2: Saving the lives of his men.

Apparently you fail to realize how many lives you may cost us in the future.

If you alienate the people of the country you are in, you will find no aid or comfort in that land.

Do those things often enough and tips like the LTC got in the first place will be an ancient memory.

Consider me a beaurocrat if you like, but I am still serving, will continue to serve, and will follow my oath.

"I, _____, do solemnly swear that I will support and defend the Constitution of the United States against all enemies, foreign and domestic; that I will bear true faith and allegiance to the same; and that I will obey the orders of the President of the United States and the orders of the officers appointed over me, according to regulations and the Uniform Code of Military Justice. So help me God." (Title 10, US Code; Act of 5 May 1960 replacing the wording first adopted in 1789, with amendment effective 5 October 1962).

Words mean things, it isn't your call to decide when or when not to follow orders and adhere to the law.

Unless of course you support Clinton.

The Geneva Convention does NOT protect partisans, bandits, spys, and soldiers out uniform or in disguise. As far as "international law" is concerned the office had the right to execute the policeman right there. Its the UCMJ that the LTC is in trouble with, not the Geneva Convention.

An enemy who wears the uniform of allied forces removes himself from protetion of the law of war...even if he surrenders.

Ahem. Punishment of that is an issue for the JAG Corps.

Sure. After trial by court-martial. Oops...no trial.

That is possibly the dumbest question anyone ever asked me.

Do you have anything intelligent to say or are you going to keep showing your idiocy here?

I will take that as an affirmative about the slap.

You said: "Do you have anything intelligent to say or are you going to keep showing your idiocy here?"

I said: Maybe in boot camp you had one to many blanket parties, I think you go hit in the head.

If I was an idiot, how would the USMC give me a commission and the Army keep you as a Sgt.?

Maybe you need to sit down with your CO and talk about some things. Clearly you have some issues.

Lighten up Francis, or I will call Sgt. Hulka with his big toe!
