[history]
CBS will not broadcast a miniseries about the legacy of former President Ronald Reagan, conceding yesterday that the production "does not present a balanced portrayal of the Reagans."
But the project is still alive and kicking. In a deft scheduling maneuver, CBS will now air the "The Reagans" on cable channel Showtime, owned by Viacom, the parent company to both networks.

You mean to tell me Brolins been rescued? I had not heard that. The last news I had was that a search team was going to enter her snoz with guide ropes, search dogs, and flash lights, but I wasn't aware that they had found and rescued that has been.

What this proves to me is just how much the movie was a pet project of baba and her ilk.

This is censorship, pure and simple. I hope Streisand doesn't write this stuff, because it's 6th grade level.
Censorship is something which is imposed from above, usually by a person or persons in authority. It is handed down as a ruling which the masses must accept as being in their best interests.
When the populace itself expresses an opinion as to how it wants matters handled, be it regarding their government or the type of material which fills the public airwaves, this is the very antithesis of censorship.
Far from being an infraction of the First Amendment, it is, in fact, the very embodiment of the First Amendment in action. The people have spoken and instructed those who believe that the First Amendment gives them carte blanche to write and broadcast whatever they wish, that this is not the case.
Babs, the First Amendment applies not only to you, but also to us. It is not a sad day for "artistic freedom". You and your ilk have used your "artistic freedom" to produce a certain piece of theater. And we have used our freedom as citizens to tell you what we think of it.
So where's the problem? Surely you don't believe we're all obliged to swallow in toto whatever it is you serve up to us? Or do you?

Hey, Barbra, how about we on the right make a major mini-series with a made-up scene about Bill Clinton and you, starring Rush Limbaugh and Ann Coulter, in the White House snorting cocaine and toasting champaign to the deaths of our Rangers in Somalia chanting "we loathe the military". We'll see if the left has anything to say about it.
Hell, the left wouldn't even let Dr. Laura have her show, or Rush to do a football show, let alone a major mini-series with made-up scenes.

" "This is what the Right Wing does when they are faced with a truth that is not 100 percent positive for their side they spread vicious lies and attacks and scream and yell until they get their way," Miss Streisand wrote."Ummmmm...........no, there, Hawkbill. This is what the Right Wing and any other thinking human being does when faced with outright smear, slander, and lies. What you're attempting, o Large of Nose, is called "transferrence". What you described is what liberals do on a regular basis.

Did Miss Streisand think that conservatives would sit back and LET her smear Reagan with impunity? That is what the miniseries was - a four-hour SMEAR.

But CBS was adamant it was not bowing to public pressure, claiming that their decision "is based solely on our reaction to seeing the final film, not the controversy that erupted around a draft of the script." Looks like CBS is well prepared to go into the bridge selling business.
To: kattracks
"This is another reason why Viacom would do well to ensure the movie accurately portrays history instead of rewriting history to suit a liberal agenda," he said, advising Viacom "to clean this mess up before airing it on Showtime." Isn't there some tie-in between Viacom and the Clintons? I vaguely recall that there is.

Think maybe it is time for Freepers to send out designer "crying" towels for these crybabies.
