Order by time should be the default.
What is the criteria for "order by relevance?
Will I ever use "order by relevance"?
NO!

I agree, let's ping John.

It never would have occurred to me to start a thread about it, but I also hate the default search.
It means I have to search twice everytime.
Since we're nitpicking, I think we need a little more color around here. Very bland, like a hospital cafeteria.

I agree, it would be an big improvement if the search default was by post date.

Agreed. As it is now, I must search twice before posting anything. I think the default should be by time of posting.

100% amen. Probably the reason a lot of duplicate posts [one of mine included]. The thing most relevant is the date.

I completely agree.
I didn't figure out until a few days ago why I would search for articles before posting, BUT NOT FIND THEM.
It used to sort by post date by default. Changing the default really messed me up.

Agreed. Most of my searching is looking to see if an article has already been posted. If it is a news item from today or the day before, of course I want to see the latest matches not something from last month.

We can select other user preferences. Why not make the search default a user preference?
