LIVERMORE, Calif. (AP) - The Alameda County Coroner's Office has confirmed that a therapeutic drug-induced abortion led to the death of an 18-year-old Livermore woman who died Sept. 17. According to the autopsy report released Friday, Holly Patterson died of septic shock caused by endomyometritis, an inflammation of the uterus. The report says that endomyometritis was caused by a drug-induced abortion.

Any time you talk with a choicer about abortion, they whine and cry about 'all the women' who died due to illegal abortions before Roe v. Wade.
Since there were far fewer abortions when it was illegal,I would expect the numbers who died then verses the numbers who die now are pretty close, especially when adjusted for advances in medicine. (A person in septic shock is far more likely to survive now than before 1973, no matter the cause.)

The 18-year-old was given the abortion pill a week earlier by a Planned Parenthood Clinic in Hayward, where she sought it without the knowledge of her father. 'nuff said!

"Any time you talk with a choicer about abortion, they whine and cry about 'all the women' who died due to illegal abortions before Roe v. Wade." I know, as if somebody kept statistics on the number of "back alley" abortions, how many died, and how many were injured. It's all a sham, a huge red herring. Even the name, "back alley abortion" is designed to dupe people. How many of these illegal abortions were actually performed in some filthy "back alley" like the image the name conjurs up? They were performed in people's homes, by themselves or a "friend", and so they should be referred to as "self inflicted abortions".

Your suspicions are correct. Plus, there is a lot of propaganda and bogus info. out there. The thing that reduced abortion death was advances in medicine, not legalization. Even giving the benefit of the doubt that people who pushed for legalization did so to make the procedure safer (which I have no doubt was true of many of them) mortality rates were already dropping sharply by the time abortion was legalized.
Further, the procedure itself is fraught with danger, under the best circumstances. I believe this would be true if for now other reason than it is never wise or safe to fool with nature.
Additionally, statistics on current morbidity and mortality are not acknowledged by the pro-choice side. They have FAILED at making abortion a safe procedure, and it will remain dangerous, no matter how many laws they pass, for the reasons I have stated, and becuase I don't think any really good doctors are ever going to do a lot of abortions.

There must be some mistake here, the Food and Drug Administration says these pills are safe for human consumption. Maybe it's time to hold our government's feet to the fire and see if we can sue an Agency whose rubber stamp on a deadly pill caused the unnecessary death of a child.

Suit must be filed against Planned Parenthood.

It's interesting to compare the reaction to RU-486-related deaths, to the reaction to the antihistamine
Seldane.
The FDA removed its approval of Seldane, despite the fact that its death-and-damage toll was less than for RU-486 (not including the dead babies, of course).

Planned Parenthood was founded by a woman whose real cause was to wipe out what she called the "inferior races". Margret Sanger did not think poor women should have children, because she felt that poor people had all the criminal children! This is what drove her.
Not much has changed, for N.O.W. and Plannned parenthood have contributed lots of money to a doctor who has killed and maimed women in abortions--thus exposing their true motivation, which is not the health of women! They are only interested in the great deal of money that is made, and the political power they personally hold.
They also sent out a statement saying that the reduction in crime could be attributed to the legalising of abortion!

"I am not putting out a pro-choice or pro-life stand," he explained. "We need to know that drugs are safe, and if they are not safe, do something about it." IMO he is taking a political position, that of pro-abortion. He implies RU486 isn't safe for the taker, that "somebody" (read: government) should make it safer. But the report did not find the drug itself to be the cause of death, rather it was the consequence (i.e., "botched" abortion) from taking the drug.
This is not to say he doesn't have a right to mourn and be angry over his daughter's unnecessary death.

Nice points. I am aware of Sanger's positions, but I appreciate you pointing them out, here. More people need to know about her.

Yes, and they need to know about Planned Parenthood, and N.O.W's support of Dr. Bruce Steir and their lack of lobbying against Anthony Centracchio.

The hospital who sent the hurting girl home, telling her that her condition was normal, needs to be sued bigtime.

Wow. Now that's a telling statistic isn't it? Think there maybe some "lobbying" going on there? (to keep RU-486 on the market) Naaahhh < /sarcasm >

The 18-year-old was given the abortion pill a week earlier by a Planned Parenthood Clinic in Hayward, where she sought it without the knowledge of her father. When she fell ill Sept. 14, her boyfriend rushed her to Valley Care Medical Center, where she reportedly was told that her pain and bleeding were normal, and she was sent home with painkillers. This is different from the original story that was reported. The claim was made that the girl did not admit to the doctors at the ER that she took the drug, implying she was partly to blame for her own death.

wHY WOULD YOU THINK THAT, OR--DID I MISS THE SARCASM?
