"Webzine says 'you too' can complete program in your own home"

ARTICLE SNIPPET: "The global terrorist network al-Qaida has published a new Internet magazine providing Muslim youth the opportunity to be trained as holy warriors in the comfort of their own homes.
The first issue of the publication, called Al-Battar Training Camp, concludes with an emphasis on the virtual program's convenience.
"Oh Mujahid [holy warrior] brother, in order to join the great training camps you don't have to travel to other lands," the magazine states. "Alone, in your home or with a group of your brothers, you too can begin to execute the training program. You can all join the Al-Battar Training Camp."
The periodical's full title is Al-Battar Training Camp A Magazine Published by the Military Committee of the Mujahideen in the Arabian Peninsula, reports the Middle East Media Research Institute in Washington, D.C., which provided a review of the magazine.
"Al-Battar," according to MEMRI, is an alias of Sheikh Yousef Al-Ayyiri, an al-Qaida leader in Saudi Arabia who was killed last year in a clash with Saudi security forces. Al-Ayyiri also was a personal bodyguard to Osama bin Laden.
An editorial signed by Abu Thabit Al-Najdi says the periodical "is given as a gift to the youth of Islam whose hearts burn in support of the religion by means of jihad for the sake of Allah."
The magazine's introduction further explains its purpose:
"Because many of Islam's young people do not yet know how to bear arms, not to mention use them, and because the agents of the Cross [Western nations] are hobbling the Muslims and preventing them from planning [jihad] for the sake of Allah your brothers the Mujahideen in the Arabian Peninsula have decided to publish this booklet to serve the Mujahid brother in his place of isolation, and he will do the exercises and act according to the military knowledge included within it.
"
The publication, declaring "these are times of jihad," says preparing for jihad "is a personal commandment that applies to every Muslim even when jihad [itself] is a commandment applying [only] to all Muslims as a community, and all the more so at this time, when [jihad] has become also a commandment applying to every Muslim personally with the aim of repelling the aggressive enemy who has invaded the Muslim land."
Another article, by Mu'aadh Mansour, is titled "The importance of military preparedness in sharia," or Islamic law."

OPINION: The neigh is probably the voices of AQ as they use that horse symbol on many of their web sites.
Also, on many calendars I was running across several weeks ago online while checking sites of interest; Feb. 2 and Feb 4 were featured or highlighted.
FYI...
One jihadi site I ran across (forgot which one) did have January 6 featured. The only reason I remember that is because that was the first one I ran across with that date on the calendar highlighted. Don't know what even Jan. 6th is.

Hum, in one of those internet threats they expressed thanks for "the gift." It enabled them to bring down a city.

3) Cryptic messages continue to be posted on message boards known to be sympathetic to jihadi extremists. One particular find included pics of the Luxor Hotel in Las Vegas (taken several years ago), a 747, & a blurry pic of the Staples Center in LA Luxor Hotel... reminds me of the Luxor massacre in Egypt where some Islamicists linked with al Qaeda gunned down bunches of tourists.

Thanks, JustPiper for thinking of us New Yorkers.
Despite what my screen name may say, I'm in the very heart of NYC. We've been, I feel, at the orange alert since 9-11. Lately it feels like orange+. And I witnessed the collapse of the Twin Towers. Could have been in there had I not refused an offer with the NY Mercantile Exchange in the mid 80's.
But was is there to do? Be a coward and run away from fear? I don't think so. Wasn't FDR who said: "You have nothing to fear but fear itself."?
On we go!!

OMG. They have no idea, then, what he shot those people up with. Every little bit of flu vaccine is accounted for. You can believe that. That man didn't have any flu vaccine. They'd know it, complete with lot number, when it was issued, made, shipped and to whom. I can't believe this. What a perfect, simplistic way to start bio terror. My God, those folks need to be tracked down and tested and treated, if necessary. They need to run to their doctors.

Thank you. I know several had jumped in after taking a few days off, or were here for the first time. Thought we could give 'em an EXTREMELY condensed version to catch 'em up.

"Do you think it would reach as far as upstate?"
It depends on the number of megatons exploded. I remember of a site I visited about 18 months ago that showed the impact of different megatons on different geographical areas. This assumed the explotion occurred in midtown Manahttan. But if I were you I wouldn't worry about it. If I remember correctly a 50 megatons bomb would have some impact inside Westchester County, but not a disastrous one. OTOH, outside of Westchester County, the impact from such a device would be minimal at worst.

Oh my gosh! January 6! I didn't think about that!
January 6 is celebrated in Egypt by the Coptic Christians as Christmas. I'm pretty sure it isn't just the Copts, but I believe much of the Eastern Orthodox Christian Churches celebrate Christmas on that day. That could be signficant.

Didn't see this with 20 of them on 911The agencies which COULD have prevented SUCH an occurance were hamstrung prior to a 'massive overhaul' and restucturing of intel handling between and law enforcement andn 'spy' agebcies (as in: the CIA and FBI) and passage of the 'the Patriot Act -
- or have you forgeotten this aspect?

All in all, our cities would not be very nice places to be... Martial law would likely follow," Paul H. Gilbert of the National Research Council told a congressional panel. How SOON we forget -
- do you remember New York 1977 (riots, fires, chaos, pandemonium - BUT contrast that with NY in 2003)?

I, too, think often of you in New York and New Jersey. You, who live there, have experienced the worst, and have risen above it with bravery and grace. I am so very proud of all of you.
Living where I do, in western South Dakota, I can't help but feel a bit more secure and safe from the threatened terrorist attacks. However, wherever the strikes may come...they strike every American.. If they hurt one of us, they hurt all of us. That's just the way it is with Americans.
