A new message was posted in the last few hours by the Jeddah-based al-Qaeda-linked Al-Islah (Reform) society calling on Muslims to flee New York, Washington and Los Angeles in advance of major al Qaeda attacks in those cities. This is revealed by DEBKAfile.
The message accuses the United States of predetermining its end (doom) by its policies. ?The Jews rule the Pentagon by remote control and (are the cause) of Muslims being killed in every corner of the world. The United States should therefore expect more blows.?
The message is signed on behalf of the al Bayan (The Threat) movement by ?your warrior brother, Abul Hassan al Khadrami?.
Our Muslim expert identifies the name of the signatory as belonging to a Yemeni from Hadhrameuth, the Bin Ladens? place of origin where Osama enjoys substantial tribal support.
DEBKAfile?s counter-terror sources stress that warnings appearing on these forums are taken both very seriously and with caution by the intelligence services keeping track of the terrorist network?s electronic traffic.
Last November, Jeddah-based fundamentalist forums addressed a message to an Al Qaeda member, saying whoever understands ? understands; whoever knows, knows, but we are marching towards an operation that will take us to Paradise. Three days later, the Mombasa Paradise hotel was blown up killing 12 Kenyans and 3 Israelis and a failed shoulder-launched Strela anti-air missile missed an Israeli airliner at Mombasa airport.

Why does everyone assume that these guys are idiots. They DO not live in caves. Some DID go to some of the best schools in the world.
Yes, the shoe bomber and Padilla were idiots. We know that because they got caught. However, the guys who took over and flew the 757's were clearly not idiots. Sucidal maniacs yes, idiots no.
We have to stop thinking of these guys as mentally inferior and as bumbling idiots. They are cunning, dedicated, and focused.
If they are so stupid, how come a mere drop of a note on a web site and a few phone calls has started a thread with nearly 4,000 messages on it.
No, they are not stupid. Underestimating your opponent is a bad thing. Ask the boys from Oklahoma who will be playing for second place on January 4th. The underestimated Kansas and got their butts whooped.

NEW ISSUE OF AL-QAEDA PUBLICATION RELEASED
SITE Institute
SITE Institute,12/26/2003 - The seventh issue of the al-Qaeda magazine Sawt al-Jihad (The Voice of Jihad) was posted to the internet yesterday. The magazine is published by sympathizers of the al-Qaeda author and webmaster Yousef al-Ayeeri, who was killed by Saudi security forces in June 2003. Ayeeri?s death inspired his media disciples to begin publishing the magazine. Some of the authors of articles in Sawt al-Jihad are al-Qaeda leaders who write under pseudonyms.
On the first page of the seventh issue is an editorial entitled, ?Signs of Victory,? written by an al-Qaeda leader under the pseudonym Suleiman Al-Dosary. The piece expresses the al-Qaeda members? happiness for the latest Ayman al-Zawahiri?s audiotape, released last Friday. Demonstrating the importance to al-Qaeda?s supporters of these propaganda tapes, Al-Dosary wrote the following:
?We have rejoiced much due to the good word that was delivered by the Jihad leader Ayman al-Zawahiri that reminded Muslims of the blessings of God upon them, and how God disgraced the Americans and humiliated them since the Tora Bora battles two years ago, and we hope that these words are an incentive to the Mujahid, and an instigator to the continuation of the Jihad against the Crusaders.?
Invoking the language of assassinated al-Qaeda ideologue Abdullah Azzam, the editorial also calls upon Muslims to ?join the caravan? in their fight against the ?Crusaders,? driving them out of Muslim countries everywhere, including Afghanistan, Iraq, and the Arabian peninsula, by promising them with tremendous victories.
The magazine also published the second part of an interview with one of the Saudi al-Qaeda ideological leaders Louis Attiyah Allah, who seems to be the successor to Yousuf al-Ayeeri. In his interview, Attiyah explains the great role that Ayeeri played within the al-Qaeda organization and calls for the continuation of suicide operations. He also asks Muslims to bless Osama Bin Laden and Ayman al-Zawahiri and the rest of the Mujahideen in their war against the U.S., and then promises them, ?Your fights against the Americans are coming to an end, for America is falling, and the question is just a matter of time.? Attiyah also indicates that it is the al-Qaeda victories against the American troops in Iraq that motivated al-Zawahiri to announce his new commitment.
The latest issue also contains a detailed biography of Turki bin Nasser Mash?al Al-Dandani, one of the al-Qaeda members who participated in the Riyadh bombings this past May. Al-Dandani was killed on July 3 when cornered by Saudi security forces storming his hideout, the al-Khashim mosque in the Jawf province. Three other suicide bombers exploded themselves during the same clash, which also led to the death of Abdul Rahman Jabarah, a Canadian whose brother Mohamed Jabarah is in U.S. custody and stands accused of organizing terrorist activities in Southeast Asia.

I realize you are quite sound in your reasoning . . .
perhaps or almost totally . . .
I still believe you underestimate the capacity of money in those regions of the world to buy whatever is needed to maintain whatever is desired to be maintained
INCLUDING
nukes.
I also believe that SOME in AlQaeda are not idiots in SOME respects. 9/11, while rife with mistakes, also demonstrated a sophisticated amount of planning and cleverness.
Yes, I quite agree that panic is likely to be a challenge under a number of scenarios.
Who knows who is responsible for what part of the chatter. Given that our best security analysts are paying some attention to at least some of it . . . perhaps laymen ought to consider it more important than 0.000%.
In terms of the rants of purported AlQaeda or their sympathesizers . . . a LOT of the phrasing is consistent with a LOT of their mentality.
They are given to extreme emotions and volume when standing an inch from each other's noses carrying on a very calm, casual conversation. It is not surprising that such rants sound shrill and extreme to us. I don't know how they account for, discount for or deal with hyperbole when it seems like hyperbole is the foundational START of their emotionality in communicating.
I think it is fairly hazardous to depend too confidently on too many of our endemic western assumptions with regard to AlQaeda.
And, short of God's own or via whatever even such as ET interventions, I believe that sooner or later--and probably somewhat sooner than later--AlQaeda will set off more than a dirty bomb but at least that.
I don't see it remotely automatic at all that if they'd had them, they'd have used them before now. That just does not follow logically at all for me, much less automatically so. There are possibly dozens upon dozens of reasons why they might wait until a time they saw such as bringing them THEIR biggest public, publicity, emotional, spiritual, destructive . . . whatever . . . BANG for their efforts. Their logic in such matters is not at all necessarily our logic.

it's a new shi'ite site - Shiite News Agency, or Ebaa , focuses entirely on reports about Shiites across the world, particularly in Iraq and Gulf countries, and has become a platform for defending their political and religious positions, said Al-Quds Press.

I can read it. It's a harmless page. Nothing to worry about! No matter how ominous the photo seems! But geez you gave me a scare! When I pulled up the page this image showed up!
Thank goodness I could read the page or I'd be really worried! That page is an article about the risk of deep vein thrombosis on long airline flights (that's what the photo of the airplane is all about). Yes, it scared me when I saw the photo of the airplane but the text appears to be completely innocuous in this case :)

thanks, I kind of figured it would be, but what a weird picture!
