If marijuana were legal, it would replace oranges as the second most valuable crop in Tulare County.

And if marijuana were legal, Tulare County also would lead the state in the plant's cultivation.

Figures released Wednesday from the state Attorney General's Office revealed more than a quarter of all marijuana plants seized in California this year have been found in Tulare County.

George Washington's Diary:
1765 August 7

"began to separate [sic] the Male from the Female hemp. . . rather too late."

I believe there is only one purpose for this activity.

Hemp:1 a : a tall widely cultivated Asian herb (Cannabis sativa) as the Merriam Webster dictionary states.

Besides the fact that this was the particular herb they
were planting.

Much beating of the breasts today. Perhaps it is because the article illustrates how much "American made" and not "Mexican import" there really is.

You're confusing, deliberately I'm sure, marijuana with hemp. Hemp was widely used, not marijuana.

It is my understanding that several of the Founding Fathers smoked marijuana.

And you drug warriors are confusing, deliberately I'm sure, marijuana with hemp as well, given the legal restrictions on hemp seeds, oil, and cloth, even though they contain absolutely miniscule amounts of THC. But then again, your drug war isn't about intoxicants anyway, its about expansive and intrusive government power - so if you can no-knock a bird-seed distributor, you will and you do.

"According to a DEA press release, products that are now illegal if they contain even trace amounts of THC include hemp-based varities of beer, cheese, coffee, corn chips, energy drinks, flour, ice cream, snack bars, salad oil, soda and veggie burgers. Exempted are bird seed mixtures with sterilized cannabis seeds, clothing items, cosmetics, lotion, paper, rope, twine and yarn, shampoo and soap."

Buy a clue, coloradan, and cool it with the rhetoric. If it's not consumed by humans, it's legal.

"no-knock a bird-seed distributor"

The DEA siezed an illegal hemp seed shipment. Were they supposed to "knock-knock" on the side of the truck container?

"I believe there is only one purpose for this activity."

I believe you believe that.

He could have wanted to do it to create more space for females to flower for seed production (oops, rather too late, says George), or to take advantage of the male fiber before it overmatures in the field (oops, rather too late, says George).

This exemption you cite may be the newest policy, but it is not the only policy that ever existed: there was a time bird seed was not exempt, as recently as 1999.

Buy yourself a clue. Actually, buy two clues - one for your ignorance about bird seed and the WO(s)D and another for telling me to do so, when I was right and you were wrong.

So what? I read the articles before I posted.

It was hemp seed being sold as bird seed. The shipment was intercepted and seized. Everything I said was true.

YOU were the one who lied. You were the one who called it a "no-knock" raid on a bird seed distributor. Trying to inflame the troops with the "no-knock" rhetoric? Care to explain your "no-knock" description? (this oughta be good).

All this can be made from the seed but is illegal:
beer, cheese, corn chips, energy drinks, flour, ice cream,
snack bars, salad oil, soda and veggie burgers?

You betcha!

But all this -- bird seed mixtures with sterilized cannabis seeds, clothing items, cosmetics, lotion, paper, rope, twine and yarn, shampoo and soap -- can be made from the seed but is legal.

How about that, huh?

No quantities of sugars, noodles, sodas or breads.

That is what you have to do to stay healthier along with exercise.

When people are sick though, the church has places to sit and Eucharistic ministers will come to the seat.

You can't expect to take a spot set aside for Servers. Your dad meant well, but there were at least 4 other alternatives that are in a church for people with limited movement like you dad.

My mom died of breast cancer a few years back, and up until her death she still served the Church. She visited men in prisons (they had drug addiction problems). She would also go to the homes of the sick to give the host to home ridden people.
You dad never had to be without unless he was stubborn, which is not all that untypical for older folks by the way.

My mom helped start a half-way home for men out of prison. Drug addiction is a big issue among them all, so when you talk about the innocence of a little pot or it being some blessed herb, you come across to me as silly and dangerous.

We should look to become better, not medicated or drunk for that matter.

No-knocks are part and parcel of the drug war. You not only condone them, but actively support them. Even if this particular seizure was not a no-knock, many others were, and hemp is now a Schedule I ingredient for ingestibles - ripe for no-knocking.

As long as you're all sanctimonious, "everything I said is true" here's your lie: In announcing the ruling in October, Hutchinson said, "Many Americans do not know that hemp and marijuana are both parts of the same plant and that hemp cannot be produced without producing marijuana." So either a former head of the DEA is lying - or you are.

Cheers.

Why should we bother to look, when there are the Drug Warriors there to gently guide us on the path of Righteousness, suited in dashing Nomex, toting their MP-5s and wearing nice shiny jackboots?

Conservative means to preserve. It is wise to preserve a society that protects us with a degree of personal liberty unknown to most of the world throughout history.

Licentious, selfish, irresponsible behavior cannot be tolerated in large segments of a society that wants to continue. Even now birthrates have fallen to the point where European and American cultures cannot replenish themselves.

Keeping oneself spaced out (or drunk) is not conducive to raising well the next generation that will decide whether we should be euthanized so as not to interfere with their next high.

We both believe in using government coercion to enforce a certain level of responsible, moral behavior in society.

What we disagree on are drug laws and their enforcement.

If you disagree with giving tickets to people who run red lights, or arresting those suspected of murder, or paying taxes to support the military, etc., then we do have a more major disagreement than I believe.

Gifted by God, this herb has been cultivated around the world since the very beginning of cultivation

You seem to overlook than we were thrown out of Eden because we didn't obey God. I believe there was a disagreement about horticultural uses.

You seem to overlook that God flooded the world and killed off everyone except Noah and his descendants because people had become so evil.

You seem to overlook that Sodom and Gomorrah were rained with brimstone and everyone in them killed by God for their evil, licentious ways.

I hope you don't have a joint in your mouth when Christ comes again to judge how you have used the talents He gave you.

Conservative means to preserve.

I feel that "conservative" means to preserve the system of government our founding fathers laid out. That is why I oppose the Federal War on Drugs as a 10th Amendment violation and feel that each individual state should be responsible for their respective drug laws.

Take care out there among them English...
