Celebrations Erupt Across Arab World after US Chopper Crash
Associated Press ^ | November 2, 2003 | nwrep

Cairo, Egypt-AP -- There are celebrations reported across the Arab world, after the news of more American casualties in Iraq.

Resistance to the occupation is applauded by some who see it as proof that Iraqis weren't totally humiliated by the relative ease of the U-S-led coalition's toppling of Saddam Hussein.

Many Arabs had warned an invasion of Iraq could drag the region into chaos. In Damascus today, foreign ministers from countries bordering Iraq again called on the U-S to restore order in that country.

BTW, why are we still giving money to Egypt? Why are we being so friendly to Saudi Arabia?

Just a reminder that we have enough oil between Alaska and the Gulf of Mexico to support us at our current fossil fuel use rate for around 120 years.

In addition, we are figuring out how to get energy from fuel cells and other means.

If we are not going to fight to win we shouldnt have gone over there.

AMEN!

Now, will someone close to Dubya please tell him that.

When Dubya first showed the moral courage to go into Iraq, I was almost ready to forgive him for the (ANTI)Patriot Act and Fatherland Security Act (almost). Although he has done much better than his daddy, in that area, it looks like Jr. has inherited his daddy's lack of moral courage to finish the job (a la Desert Storm).

By now, the governments in Damascus, Tehran and Riyadh should have been routed, removing them from even any semblance of power, either through the use of US troops or more drastic measures. When the worst offenders are purged from power, either through physical removal from office or through removal from the human race, the rest of the leaders of the Arab world should get the message. Those who don't, will be few and can be easily dealt with. Those Arab leaders who are left will know where the trouble makers are and will help us finish the job, rather than make it difficult for us.

But, before we can do that, we need a Republican in the Whitehouse who is more concerned with ending the threat of terrorism than intruding into the personal and private affairs of every American and who also has the moral courage to finish the job he started.

May I remind everyone that there were neighborhoods in America where celebrations erupted after the bombing of the Pentagon and the WTC.

To say nothing of the leftist professors all around our country who were approving of those attacks on America.

It's not about sympathy for the muslims or any arabs, it's about keeping the war on terrorism away from our shores. That some will be free is a consequence of our own national security interests.

Frankly, I don't give a damn what people still living in squalor, beating their women, peeing in their drinking water think about us.

Remember who danced on 9-11

I suspect there are a few celebrations in Old Europe, the rest of the Muslim world,
and French-Canada.

Watch a trend start to develop now. Our enemies will start carrying out attacks such as this one right before the Sunday talk shows and hollidays in order to get the most impact and news coverage at home. This will be an attempt to break our resolve at home where we are vulnerable. We have to stay the course but we have to start fighting terror with a some terror of our own. The entire world knows how we can be beaten and that's on the home front. They have adopted a plan that drags us into a prolonged struggle that drains our resources and determination, hopefully causing us to cut and run. We have to counter this and show our enemies that this tactic will not succeed.

BOYCOTT FOX NEWS

Lead story at top of hour is footage of anti-Americans celebrating the murder of our troops.
NO mention of prayers or sympathy for the dead and injured or their family members.

Offering my prayers for those who went Home
and to those who were injured.

To our service men and women : The liberal media DOES NOT represent America.

We need more boots on the ground and less hand wringing about winning hearts and minds in a nation whose cult culture hinges on honor and humiliation.

The surrounding nations demand that we control Iraq? We need to cast off the failures of the past, Viet Nam should have taught us that there is no way to win a humanitarian, PC war. To win a war, ground must be taken, held, and controlled along with the population, and I don't see that happening in a large enough scope.

Our troops are being subjected to a segement of people that will wave American flags in their face, as they drive by, then pick up a gun and shoot them in the back.

I think the Iraqi citizens that really want change will tolerate police state measures until the situation is under control. Iraqi's need to be finger printed, and id'ed, a person should be secretely appointed on each block to "know his neighborhood" and report any unusual activity such as people moving in or out, strangers in the area, and unusual activity and hours of anyone on his block. Failure to do so ends in prison time.

Secret cash bounties should be paid for strangers or suspected terrorists turned in by citizens.

This ability should not be in the hands or ability of the interim government to use, when we leave our policing proceedures and information goes with us.

"Tonk,I believe they were right to show it"

Show it over and over and over again?
Without one mention of the troops or their family members?
With no mention of the sacrifices our men and women serving must endure?
Think of the family members of those killed and injured.
How do you think they feel seeing this cheering.

No identification is made of who, exactly, is doing the celebrating, how that came to the attention of the reporter, how widespread the sentiment is alleged to be, or other concrete details. Was this based on some reporter's own observations? Was this something seen on TV? Was there an editorial in a fundamentalist or a government-operated newspaper?

Well, it came from the AP, so I'm guessing it was their employees doing the celebrating.

I am so sad for all...was posting with mystery ak waiting on news of her Chinook flying husband.I think we were counting on each others for the prayers.

(Mike is safe,in Kuwait, but instead of a happy family reunion for his Rand R,he will be comforting the family of his dead crew mate).I think the reporters were taken aback by the celebrations. They are talking about it now.
