Well the issue is that the Middle East are trying to say we are on a crusade and to have a President who claims to be there by God instead of the people kind of puts Islam against Christianity in a religious war.

Not the preferred perception.

The suggestion that Bush is some kind of religious nutter is so ludicrous. And while per the article, allegedly Bush felt that God wanted him to throw his hat in the ring, not that God wanted him to win. There is a difference, perhaps too subtle for the author. This near atheist agnostic does not feel threatened by Bush's religiousity. He is a calm, and composed, and sensible, and tolerant, and cautious man. I feel quite safe.

Oh yes, Blair, another man of faith, who prayed with Bush (oh the horror), is not a religious nutter either. He too is calm and composed and focused on furthering what he in good conscience thinks is good for his nation, and for the planet as a whole. In that sense, while Blair is to the Left of Bush on some issues (I am kind of in-between the two), he and Bush are sympatico.

My suggestion to the author is to chill out, and move on to some other marketing plan for self attention and aggandizement. The dog he has chosen as his vehicle won't hunt.

What I do fear are intolerant anti-religious bigots. That is how I see it, from this direction.

As a matter of clarification, the incoherent sentence of mine about God wanting Bush to win, and chose him to win, is in the headline, but not supported by any quotes from the Texan who does not speak English as well as Blair known as Dubya. Thus the headline seems tendentious and ersatz.

Few US Presidents have been as openly religious as Bush.

Recent Presidents would be a more accurate statement. Washington and Lincoln certainly were. Probably most of the early US presidents were.

"...heavily influenced by extremist Christians. "

I'm sorry, but I am trying to understand exactly what an extremeist Christian would be. And after that, I am trying to understand why someone would think that was a bad thing.

Love for God is the new "love that dare not speak its name", and faggotry is the (so-called) "love that won't shut the ef up".

'There is no question they have shared scripture and prayed together.'

Exactly what they should have been doing!

Hi, Torie. Thank you for your post.

It is a mark of how secular anad anti-religious much of the world has become, that George Bush who speaks his faith about the same as Eisenhower, is suddenly seen as some kind of nut case.

I am comforted that President Bush is a normal person, who lives his faith as best he can while not hitting people over the head with it. Those who think he is a religious zealot are way too paranoid about their own faith (or lack of it) in my opinion.

I am heartened that you see things the same way.

He prays, he's Christain, and he prays. Oh, and he prays every day. He's not fit to be President because if you pray your a loon.

Eurotrash ought to try it for a change.

That should probably be James ROBISON, Paul.

Bill clinton brought religion into the White House. He was counseled on his marital problems by the Reverend Jesse Jackson.

God has truly blessed America with George Bush as President.

There is a right time and place for this President, and I believe God has a larger purpose for GW. One that has to do with the war on terrorism and the enemies of Israel.

Who brought his pregnant mistress with him.
The hypocrisy of this crowd just astounds me.
