"This race is getting closer," said Verne Kennedy of Market Research Insight. "The race is definitely winnable by either Jindal or Blanco."

Jindal will not only have to beat Blanco but the icon Breaux and the popular Landrieus as well -- a tall order.

Yea, that's what I mean. Jindal has to fight off the whole Democrat establishment which has been entrenched for more than a century. A tall order for a 32-year-old who has never before run for office

Here is what the campaign may very well come down to, in serving the interests of the Democrats. That Bobby Jindal is not, well, you know, American, wink, wink, nudge, nudge. The Democrats have very much exercised their strengths in the division of people up into groups and subgroups, and those of East Asian descent have never been one of their strong constituencies. Most of them are far too intelligent to buy into the typical Democrat appeals.

The white Southern Democrats, particularly those of Louisiana, have steadily maintained a tight grip on their control of the party, with very few if any non-whites gaining ascendency or any position of responsibility. This lesson is not entirely lost on the various other non-whites in Louisiana.
