NEW YORK (AP) - Dennis Miller, the sardonic comedian who delivered a fake newscast on "Saturday Night Live" and told jokes in the "Monday Night Football" booth, will host a prime-time political talk show on CNBC.
The network said Thursday it had inked Miller to a multiyear deal for the political chat show, set to begin in January.
Miller said he would work four nights a week at 9 p.m. ET.
He spent six seasons on NBC's "Saturday Night Live" before launching his own HBO show, "Dennis Miller Live," winning five Emmy Awards. He drew mixed reviews for his work in the "Monday Night Football" booth, leaving in 2002 when John Madden was hired.
Miller, who was considered for a prime-time talk show on MSNBC last year before Phil Donahue was hired, said he was looking for work and intrigued by the CNBC idea after being approached by Jeff Zucker, NBC entertainment president.
"I have the same approach I would use if I were crossing a prison yard late at night," Miller said about his career in an interview with The Associated Press Thursday. "I zigzag to stay ahead of everyone."
He said he's looking forward to competing in the political talk realm with people like Fox News Channel's Bill O'Reilly, who Miller said "runs a good show."
Zucker said it was the next logical step in Miller's career.
"Having Dennis Miller return to the NBC family is one of the most exciting things to happen to us in years," he said.

Whatever. It's not very funny to me and those who are affected by the terrible conditions which cause eyes to cross. I think we can debate the issues without being so petty and mean.

other news channels are hiring conservatives Bring back Michael Savage and then give Glenn Beck his own TV show! If y'all like Dennis Miller, you'll love Glenn Beck - he's more entertaining than Rush, IMHO.

I can see it now:
Miller: IBM was up two dollars today. I don't know what people see in that stock. I mean, I haven't seen a deal like that since somebody offered me stock in that AIDS diet chocolate candy in the 80's.

GLen Beck? Now that's a possibility. Have you e-mail networks requesting him?

I'd watch him over H&C. I don't watch H&C as it is. It is short attention span "debate" at it's worst.

YES, it's about time. They can feel their ratings slip because of FOX and they're getting smarter. I watched Scarborough last night and I really like this guy.

Scarborough is the only reason I watch MSNBC. When his show is over, I flip back to Fox. You're right about the ratings. When a poll has shown that 70% of America is at least moderately conservative, you've got to wonder how some of these all-liberal networks like CNN and CBS still exist.

I never watched them like I do Fox. I used to watch Fox from Brit Hume on to Greta, but my husband isn't as addicted as I am so at 7:00 I watch Law and Order and then go back to O'Reilly and to somebody else at 9:00. I've never been a big Greta fan but once in a while I watch it. It's the same news from 5:00-10:00 so I can see why he gets bored with it. He was on the computer last night trying to get it working again and I watched Scarborough. It amazes me that the alphabet news shows can exist anymore. Mxxx

I've learned lately that I can't tell the difference whether I have my TV on FOX or MSNBC.

I rarely post anything, but isn't calling the poster "an idiot" considered a personal attack?
As far as your daughter is concerned, I will pray for her health.

CNBC is nothing like MSNBC. CNBC has been conservative for a long time. Their prime time show is as good as Rush, or better.
