Editor's note: Ted Dickason, a candidate for Modesto City Schools board of trustees, has stated that he believes evolution and creationism should be taught side by side in high school science classes. This position has generated substantial debate in the community, including this article opposing the teaching of creationism in schools and the two letters to the editor to the right supporting creationism and/or Dickason.

Dakmar...
I took a few minutes to decipher that post, and I must say I agree with a lot of what you said.
fC...
These were the Classical liberals...founding fathers-PRINCIPLES---stable/SANE scientific reality/society---industrial progress...moral/social character-values(private/personal) GROWTH(limited NON-intrusive PC Govt/religion---schools)!
Dakmar...
Where you and I diverge is on the Evolution/Communism thing. You seem to view Darwin and evolution as the beginning of the end for enlighted, moral civilization, while I think Marx, class struggle, and the "dictatorship of the proletariat" are the true dangers.
God bless you, I think we both have a common enemy in the BRAVE-NWO.

Interesting posts by f.christian. Except for the fact that they've been posted dozens and dozens of times before on every single science thread in FR's history.
Sidenote: I notice the same poster also advertises the website owned and operated by a well-publicized Anti-FReeper who has been banned for life. this website has become quite the anti-FR site.
What if I were to "advertise" the other DU.com in my tagline?

Either all things amazingly accidently happened or there was deliberate intent.

Right, apples and oranges. Living things are much more complex than automobiles, computers or picnic tables, sorry.

You can't be sure that they didn't if you write off the fact out of hand that Peter says we are not even living in the same world as Adam and Eve did.
To: Shryke
I hate to say it, but I can see your point. I just tend to bristle at all those that would do their best to relegate God to the shadows. If they don't believe in God, then what are they afraid of? Anyway - if it's not taught in churches and Sunday schools, the Bible will never be taught "correctly". Truce...

You can't be sure that they didn't if you write off the fact out of hand that Peter says we are not even living in the same world as Adam and Eve did. As a matter of fact, I accept that wholeheartedly. Say what you like about their world; just don't teach it to kids as science. In our world, the sun is billions of years old, while flowering plants are only about a hundred million years old.

Who is to say when the sun captured the earth? In the world conditions that Adam and Eve lived in, it never rained, the earth was watered from a mist rising from the ground, the atmospheric conditions didn't promote rainbows, and man had a much longer life span.
Same earth, different dimensions, conditions? In the coming new earth age, we again will not need the sun. It can burn out, go black, we can leave it behind, man will have a much longer life span again. I would think that would fascinating to study if I were a scientist, along with how this earth age meets it's end with stars appearing to fall, the universe shaken, and the elements melting, the earth reeling to and fro like a drunkard, the sun dimming and the moon not shinging. Why is there no search for evidence of these things when they already suspect the big crunch that goes hand in hand with the biblical depiction?

wow. personally, I don't even know how to respond to that one. Miss Pie, you are certainly creative, I'll give you that.

Interestingly enough, we have some of each of those designations posting on Free Republic. That proves something, although I am not sure what.

given hydrogen and oxygen, it's almost impossible to avoid
Then go back further still. Did hydrogen and oxygen just come into existence by accident? Did the physical laws which govern chemistry just come into existence by accident? Is the speed of light what it is, just because?

Who is to say when the sun captured the earth? If the Earth did not form in its place, something else would have, in order to satisfy Bode's Law. Unless you can propose a mechanism by which the original Earth was replaced by this one, we'll just have to assume that it formed in its current orbit.
I would think that would fascinating to study if I were a scientist,
Indeed. A magic wand would likewise employ many graduate students; it would behoove me to start believing in them.
Why is there no search for evidence of these things when they already suspect the big crunch that goes hand in hand with the biblical depiction?
Unfortunately, observations published early this year rule out any "big crunch" in our future. It rather looks as if the universe will expand away to infinity.

I'm not creative, I'm one of those hated hillbillies smiling my crooked smile waiting for science to catch up with what we Christians already know from reading the Bible.
Now they have come to realize the universe is too complex for accident, I can't tell you how I laughed when I read an article that bemused scientist have climed the mountain of knowledge, only to find a bunch of Christians sitting around in their lawn chairs, now they come to realize there was a spontaneous explosion of species...I'm just trying to give em something to think about, save a little time, give em a little shove in the right direction.

Truce. No force of man will ever relegate G-d to the shadows, friend.

Amazing.
Four threads up in two days. Over 400 replies made on them.
Not a single abuse report. Not a single 'ping' to the moderators about abuse. Not a single email about abuse.
You know what that tells me?
It tells me that there was never a reason for all the crap that usually goes on in these threads. Good. Let's keep it this way.
