An Open Letter to President Bush

George W. Bush

President of the United States of America

Dear Mr. President:

I am writing to convey my disappointment over remarks that were spoken by you regarding Islam, and also to express my strong disapproval of the recent "Ramadan Dinner" that occurred at the White House.

Mr. President, I realize the need for diplomacy; but, sir, you have gone too far--almost to the point of appeasement. Our enemies will not suddenly regain their sense of humanity, and tomorrow cease to hate America--simply because the President of the United States hosts a Ramadan Dinner at the White House on the previous evening. All that you have accomplished by this act, Mr. President, is to incite our enemies, further confuse and anger your conservative base, and given more ammunition to your liberal political opponents.

1. The Ramadan debacle has served to further inflame the Islamic world's hatred of Western civilization, for Muslims see the thing as contemptuous.

2. The Ramadan debacle has thoroughly disgusted the conservative base that elected you to the office, for they see the thing as a cheap political stunt--a propaganda ploy--if not an outright attempt at appeasement of our mortal enemy.

3. The Ramadan debacle has crossed a well-defined--albeit misused--axiom by promoting a specific religion, and doing so from the highest level in American government, while simultaneously providing the strong appearance of hypocrisy.

American Catholics, Protestants, and Jews are regularly subjected to a systematic rejection of the Judeo-Christian values, upon which this nation was founded, by lesser individuals who think a Godless society is the dawn of a brave New Utopia. Our right to freedom of religious expression in the public square, to preserve those religious traditions that have always been a part of this nation's character, has been consistently impugned and figuratively ripped out of the Constitution by a morally bankrupt caste of legal elitists.

Those who think themselves wiser than America's founding fathers have perverted the original intent our Constitution and the Bill of Rights: We the People shall not lift our voices to God in public prayer at a college commencement ceremony; We the People shall not place a Christmas scene upon any town green; and God forbid that We the People should have the Ten Commandments enshrined in a Court of Law! We the People are told--adnauseam--that all such actions violate the so-called maxim of "separation of church and state." However there is the exception to this misused mantra: by presidential proclamation, Islam, that great and misunderstood bastion of peace, is now the new--and politically correct--state religion.

The President of the United States, when he finds it politically expedient, shall proselytize his fellow Americans in the name of Allah, and may do so from within the American Peoples' House in Washington: Islam is a [good] "religion of peace" that fills its adherents with "hope," et al. Well, sir, this is one American who has heard more than enough "Bovine Scatology" about the "joys" of Islam. I would have rather preferred to see you defend the Ten Commandments with such vigor.

Moreover, Mr. President, being that you are Christian, and presumably believe what Christ unequivocally stated: I am The Way, The Truth and The Light; no one comes to the Father, except by the Son of Man; then how is it, sir, that any Muslim may have "hope" worth a dime, since Islam denies that Jesus Christ is The Lord God? Mr. President, either God is a liar or you are a liar--I do not believe that God is a liar.

While you are pondering that question, Mr. President, I must also state that the General, whom you recently chastised for unabashedly giving his honest opinion about our adversary, had it quite right on the mark when he stated that our War on Terror is in fact a war of cultures--of religions: Islam Vs Christianity, and what remains of the civilized world. Mr. President, I believe that the longer you attempt to reconcile Islam with Americans, in the name of some mis-guided notion of inclusiveness, the closer you bring our Western culture to its annihilation at the hands of those whom you so much desire to befriend.

An e-mail I sent this evening to President Bush. I know the president will never see the thing, but he must know that his latest actions are really pissing off most of his base.

Look buddy, the President is President of the United States. As much as you/we may not like it, that includes many Muslims. He isn't President of the Christian States, but the United States. It is perfectly logical and proper for him to host something like this. Get over it.

On 9-12-01, there should have been an immigration exclusion announced for nationals of Islamic countries, along with a polite request that all such aliens already here, leave.

Because these steps weren't taken, and muslim immigration is proceeding at full speed under Bush, more Americans will die here from terror, and our society will continue to dissolve.

Did you write the same letter when the President acknowledged Hannukah?

Therein lies the problem for "some" people.

Are you referring to legal, or illegal folks?

Very well stated. If I could but write half as well as you, I would consider myself fortunate.

You have expressed what many have been thinking, but which have found difficult to effectively articulate.

If this isn't treason, I don't know what is.

Well, since you brought that up, exactly which laws did George W. Bush break by having Muslims in the White House?

This is a great forum for reinforcing my Agnosticism sometimes. But of course, using spam to reinforce anything is a mistake. One must avoid carbohydrates for the corporeal, and spam for the mental.

I agree, however this is not a Christian Nation. If it were, I would say kick them out. Because it isn't, and we have religeous tolerance in this country, not only do we have to allow them here, but they also need representation, after all, they pay taxes, too.

Utter tripe.

Just because you hate another religion doesn't make people who acknowledge its existence traitors.

And you show you ignorance when you post stuff like that.

He wasn't elected by the conservative base or any other base as far as that goes. He was elected by a whole bunch of confused Al Gore voters in Florida who half-punched their chads for Patrick J. Buchanan and then Bush's brother got the Secy of State to confirm Bush the winner and the Supreme Court forthwith selected him thus. Don't you read the papers?

We have religious freedom here; and it's not just Christian religious freedom.
