Al Quada, ELF, ANSWER, Sierra Club - they're all after the same goal when you think about it. IMHO, of course.

Yep. Captured eccoterrorists should go th Guantanemo Bay with the rest of them.

Logging & enviros have nothing to do with the So Cal fires.

What makes you say that? The record is very clear. So you know something we don't?

The record's 'clear' on what?

There's no timber worth cutting in those So Cal 'forests', thus, the enviros don't care..

All we can do is to fireproof the homes.

"What's unusual about SoCal this year is that the conditions were so perfect for fires...weather, beetle infestation, etc. And Al Queda can't control that."

But they sure as hell can take advantage of it.

"No, I just looked up the definition of diabolical, and while it addresses the evil, it does not address the brilliance of the plan."

I still believe that 9-11 was devious and shrewd, and effective only because of its simplicity. Lucifer's puppet Osamma bin Laden pulled it off with a very simplistic plan, fly some airplanes into some buildings. They used no advanced technology, and had access to no prodigious brainpower. It was pulled off like a magician without any real magic, just the perfection of the art of deception. And they found easy prey in the politically correct, gullible America that feared questioning suspicious Arab Muslims carrying one-way tickets and box cutters.

America has a superb national defense, but right now we are suffering from a crippled spiritual defense. We are a nation deceived by evil, as Islam attacks us and makes inroads into our society, we have chosen to call them "the religion of peace" and even help them build their mosques our midst. We have learned nothing from the Trojan Horse tactic. A national Day of Prayer might be a good start. They did it during both the Revolutionary and Civil Wars.

" Put on the whole armor of God, that you may be able to stand against the wiles of the devil. For we are not contending against flesh and blood, but against the principalities, against the powers, against the world rulers of this present darkness, against the spiritual hosts of wickedness in the heavenly places." (Ephesians 6: 11-12)

The simplicity is what made it brilliant. It was totally out of the constraints of typical thinking. By my reckoning, the simpler the plan -- the less 'moving parts' -- the smarter the idea, esp. when it catches an entire nation off-guard.

Rather, the problem is the freelancers: people like John Allen Muhammad, who are operating in affiliation with al-Qaeda's goals but are not members of the organization. There is a vast network of al-Qaeda sympathizers within the United States who, as of this moment, have committed no overt criminal acts. Rather, they are operating in hiding, in secret, plotting attacks that only they can know of. These people are the most dangerous because their plots are almost impossible to detect, except by pure luck. These people might be in contact with overseas (or domestic) controllers, but they offer none of the tell-tale signs of being terrorists.

Muhammad has been linked to al Fuqra. Check this out.

We'll see how much comes out in the trial.

What's unusual about SoCal this year is that the conditions were so perfect for fires...weather, beetle infestation, etc. And Al Queda can't control that.

Yes, but those same conditions pose a natural opportunity, either for an Al Queda mole in Southern California, or a cell of such placed in Mexico, with easy access to our largely unprotected borders, to "help nature," by multiplying the fires that otherwise might well have occurred--by setting fires that would add to the holocaust, and overwhelm the fire-fighting capacity of the Foresters. It would be naive to think that Al Queda would not take advantage of the very situation that you describe, as it would involve less risk--less need to expend personnel in suicide operations--than other less damaging actions.

The vulnerability exposed--vulnerability that you in fact describe--makes it all the more imperative that we protect our borders, and heighten efforts to find enemies already among us.

That's right. And I'm not convinced they understand the weather patterns here (or did). The leaked FBI memo (the one that keeps changing and doesn't include California in the list of states threatened by the talking captured Al Qaeda operative) also states the plan was to start fires in midsummer.

A June 25 FBI memo to United States law enforcement agencies revealed a senior al-Qaida detainee claimed to have developed a plan to start midsummer forest fires in the U.S.

Hard to reach any conclusion off that memo since it seems to keep morphing as it's being reported.
