But look at the modern paleocon movement. I really don't see any professional writer who's a paleocon who doesn't at least have a tinge of anti-Semitism.

You've stated things pretty well, but I tend to associate views such as Sobran's with traditionalist Catholics in the monarchist tradition, so it's nice to see that either (1) my perception is wrong; or (2) not all traditionalist Catholics are anti-Semites.

Strictly speaking, it is not anti-semitism to be opposed to some of Israel's policies. Israel has made some terrific blunders in very recent times.

And to be fair to Paleo's, it's much more that they are anti-interventionist than it is that they are anti-Israel.

He doesn't refer to Jews as Plague carriers. He refers to liberals as plague carriers. He actually praises and shares his respect for Orthodox Jews and conservative Jews.

The plague-carriers, so to speak, are the secularized, liberal, middlebrow Jews whose vulgarity sets the tone for American politics, public discourse, and popular culture.

Your pro-Israel views are unfortunately not shared by other traditional Catholics like Sobran and Buchanan, and I think part of the reason is that they are very sour on contemporary American/Western society, view it as apostate, vulgar, and morally corrupt, and therefore have a secret admiration for Islamic societies in which traditional religious values remain dominant. It would not surprise me if someone like Sobran converted to Islam, seeing it as the last defense against the corruptions of modern, secular society.
