Four Miami police officers were given federal prison sentences ranging from about a year to three years Wednesday for planting guns after questionable police shootings or lying to cover them up.

Prosecutors asked for sentences as long as 11 years in the city's biggest police corruption scandal in nearly two decades, which was blamed on anti-crime units under pressure to halt a rash of deadly tourist robberies in the mid-1990s.

If anything, the statisical evidence shows just the opposite. So, where is the reason for your argument or simple statements that there is a caste system here in America?

Shall I bump you to some threads in the next week or two? Note that in this story, the cops were sent to jail for shootings, but for planting drop guns or lying about it. And please note that "shootings under questionable circumstances" might, on another day or when committed by another person, be called murder, but that isn't what got these cops in jail.

What got these cops off was that they were Hispanic in a Hispanic community. You try any of that crap in Williamson County here in Texas and they will bury you. But in Travis County right next door, Austin, they would get off with a similar slap on the wrist. All of your complaints must be viewed in the race perspective of the juries that let these bad cops off. When blasck cops go bad, they are somehow excused even more than white.

Race has everything to do with your whole argument. And it is perpetuated by the Libs, Dems, and Left, not by your so-called caste system. When are you going to address that issue?

These guys are great STU Team material. Maybe they can get a lateral transfer in a few months when the heat dies down. They show a lot of potential, they could go far with the feds.

Caste systems are not here in America except in certain States that have outlawed capital punishment. Cases in point are the Menendez brothers in CA, and the Subway killer in NY.

California hasn't outlawed the death penalty. While it was held hostage for a time by the Rose Bird state Supreme Court, it is currently the prosecutor's option to press for it under certain specific circumstances.

I believe that you're right about New York though.

Indeed. And maybe, as at Waco, they'll put several of them together in one tank.

I picked your book up and started it this morning. Haven't put it down since (well, hardly put it down since- a man has to smoke and take a leak and post a little bit here on FR). 'Bout half-way through it so far. To this point I can say I give it a big thumbs up!

Just turn them loose in the places where they planted evidence falsely.

since they are now Federal felons, they'll only be armed with blackpowder or cross bows...it should be an interesting adventure for them in Opalocka or Liberty City.

Of course Texas leads the nation in the number of executions each year, but all of these are real scum. If CA has changed their laws, then good for them.

Ain't it great to see that Miami is still Miami, where the cops are just as crooked as the politicians?

Though the execution was an extralegal one, it appears that the precedent for shooting lawyers in California has caught on. We'll see if the trend continues, but I see it as a positive indication of likely things to come.

Chapter 31- page 318 is where I'm at.

So far, I find it to be a gripping story. I spent all day yesterday reading it. I don't want to really say more than that at present because I'd like to read it all the way to the end but so far I'm really impressed. Seriously.

Two things are apparent from the videos; lawyers are too tough to kill than normal people, and this guy cannot shoot worth-a-sh*t. But really, being taken advantage of by a lawyer is about as much a crime as being charged by a hooker. Services were rendered, no matter how badly the guy may have thought. This guy needs to go to jail big time. If this guy had been going after a drug-sealer, child-molester, or some other scum-bag, I would have considered his actions somewhat understandable. But this is like trying to kill a dog from taking a crap on your yard. The guy needs to go to jail. And guess what that lawyer is going to do to this man's remaining assets?

I have seen a couple of medium sized articles in the local section, but it's not made much more than a ripple. Nobody cares. They'd much rather scream about Jeb and the FCAT exam being too tough for minorities and immigrants to pass for high school graduation.
