President Bush said Tuesday that controversial remarks by Lt. Gen. William G. "Jerry" Boykin about Muslims and Islam do not "reflect my point of view, or the view of this administration" sharp language from an administration that tends to circle the wagons when a member is under attack.
Bush's move to distance himself from the outspoken general was the strongest administration response to date to disclosures of Boykin's frequent appearances before religious groups at which he characterized the war on terrorism as a battle between Judeo-Christian tradition and "Satan." His remarks have put the president in a difficult spot.

We don't pick our generals and leaders based on how unoffensive they are to our enemies. We select them based on how effective they will be in the post they are given. Dismissing Boykin would be incredibly stupid. I hope Bush realizes this and resists the political temptation to do it.

I'm becoming un-impressed with Bush lately. He works for the American people not the Muslim nation....and he can be replaced.

We certainly don't need to unnecessarily antagonize the Muslims of the world. Boykin needs to go. Who are all those Christians whose support Bush needs going to vote for if he fires Boykin? Dean?

Well I suppose one of the nine Demwits would be one of your picks to replace him? Which one? I don't understand your thinking, what would you have liked his response to have been?

If Bush caves in to terrorist front groups like CAIR and diminishes the hero Boykin, the war against islam is over. They will have won.

I hope Bush shakes his advisors that are advocating going into Syria and Iran. He has about all the food on the plate that he can eat without more problems. Boyken is not as big a problem as the the Cabal in the the defense dept.

I dont get GWB.
He allows General Wesley Clark to slander a sitting president (our troops cant do that in uniform, can they?)
But he dis-allows the statements from the BEST of our military.
I'm only voting for him again because I'm a republican - in '08 the repubs need to find someone with a BACKBONE!

Ah, thanks for being honest about how you really feel about "those Christians". We are tired of our votes being used because of the fact that the alternative (a Democrat) is much worse. Well Mr. Bush, think again.
This President has done nothing but appease these Muslims who would never be on his side and are talking out of both sides of their mouths. Boykin should stay. He has done nothing wrong except be picked on by the Media. He has served his country well and being a Christian should not disqualify him from the job.

Well, I guess it is safer or more prudent to affirm Allah through Ramadan dinners than to think that his god is with him in a war against Islam.

We certainly don't need to unnecessarily antagonize the Muslims of the world. Oh yeah, they might fly a plane into one of some of our most important buildings if they get mad. Riiiight! Get a clue, they are at war with us, genius.
Boykin needs to go.
No the Mode-rat-es in the White House need to go.
Who are all those Christians whose support Bush needs going to vote for if he fires Boykin? Dean?
That't the kind of thinking that got Bubba elected. If you make them mad they won't vote at all, certainly not for W. He needs to get a spine, and I am one of his early supporters. I'm sick of this PC garbage. The lefty journalists just won't let this go. I wonder why? And some here on FR follow their lead. Unbelievably stupid.
