It is inspiring to know that you have been able to take the experience of your college roommate and use it for the good of others. I hope and pray that she has been reconciled to God and to her family and forgiven herself.

I have been intensely interested in pregnancy and childbirth from a very young age. I pestered my mother for a long time to give me "the talk" and she finally sat me down when I was eight. One of the things she impressed upon me was that a baby is the creation of a husband, a wife and God--that the man and woman bring together the seed of life but God alone infuses that life with an eternal soul. What struck me even more was, and still is, the fact that for all the advances of medical science, doctors cannot explain exactly how and what sparks life. This is not a coincidece or oversight on God's part. I don't remember learning what abortion was but, based on what I already understood, knew immediately it was something I could never support.

Thank you for your articulate post. It's hard to put in words sometimes. You are so right. When my kids ask me where they came from (one is still too young for the talk), I always tell them they came from God. :) It's not a lie, ya know? LOL

Telling them they came from God is the perfect answer. It's absolutely true, acknowledges they were made in His image, and reinforces their value in His eyes and yours. What a lesson in self esteem that is!
