0089 4:00AM Report of Fire SR38 AT MANZANITA AV Arrowhead
To: All
Could someone please tell me if Perris Ca is ok and what conditions are there? Can't get ahold of family there. From what I can tell from the map it is about 16 miles w of Hemet on 215. I haven't been able to figure out from the reports though where it falls into the range of fire. Thanks for all your efforts, stay safe.

Fox News giving its first report in the 7 ET hour...

Steve Doocy saying fairly low winds predicted out there today should help.
To: Molly Pitcher
Got that on now.......they're saying how bad/big the fires are......that callers/e-mail coming in saying people in Calif. never have experienced this extent of fire before. You think FOX will get a clue now to COVER this DISASTER? (I'm not going to hold my breath).
To: nicmarlo
Do you have the latest updates of situation in Simi and in Lake Arrowhead? If Bluejay is on fire, it's basically at the lake now.
To: jesi
Jesi, I saw your post yesterday, but it was buried about a hundred posts and I'm not in CA, I'm the other side of the world. I have friends in Perris, too (skydiving). From what I can tell, the fire is well west of them and I don't think there is any danger to them. Hopefully someone actually in CA can answer you. Also, welcome to FR!

Looking on the CHP site.....they're not posting much of anything. Nothing posted for Ventura County, not much posted for San Bernardino County. Odd.

Another request from an East Coaster -- I have relatives in the city of San Diego that I haven't been able to reach. I don't know the city so I can't be more specific about where -- a condo complex is all I know. Are the power/phone lines down there? Praying for all of you!
Travis, can you perhaps field this one?

Thanks for the welcome and response. I'm in the rural midwest and we have basically no good news coverage of this mess. It's very frustrating and bothers me they are not giving this more attention for the people in CA.

Brush Fires Burn 105,000 Acres In Ventura County
Brush fires have burned 105,000 acres in Ventura County over the past four days, destroying or damaging dozens of structures and prompting Governor Davis to declare a State of Emergency. The largest fire is the 80,000 acre "Simi Fire" which has burned in the Simi Valley, Moorpark, Somis, Bardsdale and South Mountain areas. That fire flared up in several locations Monday morning with renewed Santa Ana winds, most notably at the east end of the fire near Highway 118 at Rocky Peak. It's threatening the Box Canyon area and Bell Canyon could have problems. Meanwhile, the 25,000 acre "Piru Fire" has burned up to the northeast city limits of Fillmore. They thought that fire was almost fully contained Saturday night, but it jumped its containment lines and moved through the Sespe Condor Sanctuary and down towards Fillmore and Piru.
