You just hit the nail on the head, Woofie. And her parents swear they taught her to swallow... they fed her pudding behind Michael's back. But the staff at the nursing home and hospice were given strict instructions by Michael NOT to give Terri ANY therapy what so ever.

It's pretty easy to starve someone to death when they aren't even allowed water or nurishment, while the tube is removed. What's she supposed to do? Push the nurse's button and ask for some fried chicken? (Sorry... that was sarcasm)

I think you are right so how could all the courts carry their decisions to this extreme?

Even if Michael was on the up and up about her "wishes", how can anyone be sure that he didn't just imagine her saying something once? Maybe he got it in his head somehow --- projecting what he would wish or what someone else had once said? It isn't safe to trust someone's memory 15 years down the road --- there is nothing more concrete than that --- no written documents, no other witnesses.

Now I apologize for getting a little gross here myself, but is that logical? Would a brain-damaged woman have her legs almost "frozen" together?

Also along the same vein, if it is true, it could be a result of no therapy. With physical therapy, I doubt that would be allowed to happen, but I don't know for sure.

I wish someone could pursue it delicately with experts, as it could be a bold-faced lie.

Also, one might think there would be a catheter for ease of care in this type of situation which would need to be checked periodically. There was talk of using diapers, but that wouldn't necessarily indicate that she didn't have a catheter which I think would be normal in such a situation.

Please excuse the indelicacy and I wouldn't pursue it, but it could indicate a lie.

but to trust everything to one man's memory of what someone might have said once over 15 years ago? People forget, and memories aren't always reliable.

And people lie. That's why most states require a written declaration. It's my understanding that Florida is one of the few that will take an oral statement.

What bothers me is that, to my understanding, the statement was uncorroborated, right? As a lawyer, I'd be loathe to advance the argument that we should unplug or stop feeding someone based on one person's oral testimony of something that happened 15 years ago. But that's just me...maybe that's why I don't practice anymore.

Normally one wouldn't, but I thought I read somewhere here that it is considered so as the laws are written in Florida.

Florida has become a real trouble-spot in this nation. The Gonzales mess, the election imbroglio, and now this.

My question is IF she had a "living will" with instuctions not to use heroic measures to keep her alive would they remove the feeding tube?

The judge that usually has made decisions slanted in Michael's favor is Judge Greer. It's been in his court for years.

Many of us question his neutrality since he also is or was on the board of directors at this same hospice and the hospice is under investigation for defrauding Medicare for millions of bogus claims. This plot goes very very deep!

BTW, Felos - Michael's death lawyer is or was also on that board!

Just one problem Mikey .. On Gretta's show, she found a document where you refuse to remove the tube shorty after her colapse because that's what you claimed Terry would want

I think Radiohead answered it in #95...If you want to be certain, a person has to state specifically in writing that they dont want a feeding tube if they cant eat, something that no one thinks of

There was another thread linking the whole chain of legal people to Hospice. If I remember right, the sherif, the lawyer, the judge? Hospice is an organization that helps people die.

I don't know... but the lack of therapy for the last 10 years is definitely part of the problem (and he's the one who has been denying her therapy)
