That's when Clinton came to the Senate floor and said the Bush administration had agreed to work with her on her concerns — whether workers at Ground Zero had been adequately informed of the dangers from smoke and dust, and whether that dust had presented a health hazard to neighbors of the World Trade Center.

Hillfeathers. She folded. Internal polling must be working against her.

Strategic withdrawl. The Hill is still planning to climb to the right of Bush via the borders issue when the real election campaign begins, and doesn't need this no-traction "issue" hanging around anymore.

Hillary! never gives up. Her "concerns" are never "satisfied." What is the truth here? Once we know the truth, it can give us a clue about the judicial nomination situation in the Senate.

So what are the pubbies going to do about the judges?

Who knows? But I know what I'd do: I'd start making public statements vowing to filibuster all nominations of non-conservatives, and all legislation introduced, by any and all future Democrat Presidents, unless the Democrats forego any and all filibusters of Bush's nominees from this point forward. The statements need to be public so that the Dems know the vow is serious. And so that the public will understand the seriousness of the issue. Bush and Frist and DeLay need to make this vow daily, so that everyone knows it and will never forget it. They should urge all Republicans to wear yellow ribbons as a symbol of our unshakeable commitment and resolve to keep the vow in perpetuity. Make the vow a public spectacle. Whenever there are press photos of Republicans in a group, the sea of yellow ribbons needs to be evident, so that the journalists will have to comment on it, and on what it means.

This would make the meaning of the principle of reciprocity crystal clear to Senator Kennedy. The Democrats would have to start realizing that payback is coming, and boy is she one mad dog!

"They should urge all Republicans to wear yellow ribbons as a symbol..."

I think the Republicans should don white cowboy hats - the messages will be immediately clear. (1) allegiance to the "Cowboy" President George Bush and (2) the good guys wear white hats.

The Democrat blockade of judicial appointments is so far on the back burner now that most people aren't aware it's still happening. There is no filibuster, just the threat of one. It's all business as usual.

This will, IMHO, make it impossible for the Republicans to make an issue of it in the next election. It's off everyone's radar screen unless they are Freepers or similarly informed people.
