I have just heard that a brush fire has broken out in the Cuesta Grade area of San Luis Obispo....up on the mtn Karl, any more on this? There was a pretty big fire up there a couple of years ago. Sheesh - if it actually gets to the Grade, that could impact the 101.

Thanks, 3 family members had to get out of LaMesa last nite, went up to Vista, to where the rest of my family are. So hopefully things will be ok.
They just moved down the 3 of Oct. Grandson is a lineman, and when he got to work this morning, they gave him 2 extra pair of pants, shirts, and socks. Told him he would be there for awhile.

Where are you in Vista? I'm on the west side, near Emerald Drive.

The Sierra's are gorgeous. I think it is terrible that the dead wood cannot be cleared out! I swear the enviornmentalist should be put on trial!
Just reported that the flames are headed toward Crestline in the SB Mountains where the beetle infested trees will add to what is already a bad situation.

Just heard on Channel 9 (KUSI) that the intersection of I-15 and SR-76 at Pala is being closed. Anyone else hear this?

Does that include Escondido? I'm in Escondido. Except for a small area in the extreme northeast corner of the city, and the subdivision above the Wild Animal Park, we should be okay. The above two areas are a little touch-and-go at the moment, but we've got a lot of resources there.
The primary problem for Escondido residents at the moment is the smoke. Winds are way down, and moisture's up a bit.

No, I'm not in Vista. Just north west of Escondido (at the edge of Daly ranch which is burning right now with no wind). The air around us is just thick of smoke.

At the west end of Mission Trails Park they have lost homes, that neighborhood is Tierra Santa. Much of Mission Trails Park has burned from Hwy 52 to Mission Gorge Rd. The fire has not crossed Mission Gorge Rd, hence Cowles Mtn has not burned. The visitors info center has not burned, if it was threatened that would have let it go, no resouces to protect it! I'm not sure about the northeast end of the park near Santee.

Thank you... the NE end of the park by Santee is exactly the area I am concerned about... can't find anything about it.

CBS2 says the OLD fire is ONE MILE SOUTH of Rim of the World High School...the air tankers are making the last ditch effort of dropping Phoscheck retardant in front of the fire....
