Unbelieveable! General Myers offered use of the fire fighting win out of Colorado. Cong Hunter arranged for this to happen. The Cong gives him the home phone number of the Chairman of the Joint Chiefs -- to head of CA Foresty and the moron wanted to mull over whether to call Gen Myers. Faxed a letter to the Governor to get ahold of the military to get the planes out there.

Doofus can approve driver's license for illegal aliens but not ask for military planes to fight the fire per House Rep from La Mesa.

They need aerial fire tankers from Colorado. SD was told not to expect any more help then what they had from CDF. These planes were tied up in a Government snafu by Doofus. Until the Chief of CDF requests the military planes but has not done so out of Colorado. Governor Doofus is not requesting military planes out of Colorado for San Diego.

Rim of the World is the name of a High School and a section of highway located in the mountain community of Crestline, Ca. in the San Bernardino Forest.

definitely NOT in Dana Point.

OC is weathering things well.

No fires presently in the OC area.

(Sorry about the late reply; had a long-running doctor's appointment this morning. Good thing, too - it was a smoke-free environment.)

I'm working on the update list for all the fires right now, and should have a current list shortly.

Are you listening to KFI -- they are interviewing two House/Senate Members from San Diego area. Davis is not calling in the military aircraft from Colorado while General Myers has been waiting for the call from CDF head or the Governor -- absolutely nothing from Gov Doofus!

There is a method of getting through to the Feds to get the help and Davis relied on the bureaucratic nightmare. Cong Hunter gotten approval from the Chairman of Joint Chiefs of Staff from Colorado Springs but Doofus didn't do a thing.

Rim Of The World is the long skyline highway across the top of the San Bernardino mountain range. There isn't a lot in the way of houses below down the mountainside that until you get to the foothills below.

Above that, however, are all the big & beautiful mountain communities like Lake Arrowhead, Blue Jay, Running Springs, Arrowbear, and Big Bear Lake amongst others.

The timber there is largely standing deadwood because of the beetles. If the fire gets into those, there's no stopping it. Those trees won't just burn, they'll explode.

The commie envirowacko degenerates have been keeping that standing deadwood from being logged out for ages thanks to like-minded fellow-travellers who set California's environmental policies.

Kinda hard to start your own hurricane.

Though Davis is doing his best to try. He needs to get out over the water and blow his hot air though. :)

Now I'm confused: you say Davis blows....but I always thought he sucked.
Both maybe ?

I don't know how you stand it. I truly do not. Showing Scripps ranch now, homes still smouldering there, some homes left standing. Seems like they are saying the area there that burned was close to the ridge? 150 homes gone. No residents beling allowed back in. Folks, excuse my typos, please.

Thanks for correcting -- reports have been changing all day and it is great when people from the area can clear up what is reported!

Earlier today I reported Running Bear which I had never heard of and it was Arrowbear -- someone on the air got Running Springs and Arrowbear mixed up and named a new place.

The guy on channel 4 says he's never seen so many aircraft working at once. it's "like a military operation." He's also so hoarse he can barely talk anymore -- it's gotta be really hard on your lungs out there.

"I've been watching and listening to coverage around the clock. I haven't seen anyone say anything like that."

I've been watching and listening to it all day too. You apparently missed it. It was on what little coverage MSNBC had of the fires.

It's awful; everything's solid smoke. I am about ready to pack, and it's miles away from me.

>> definitely NOT in Dana Point.

My sister's home is in Alpine in one of the mandatory evacuation areas. She and her husband are vacationing in Dana Point. She phoned her neighbors yesterday and found out the fire was just north of I-8, about 2 miles from her home.
