LONDON, Oct. 25 Syria cannot stop militants entering Iraq to attack U.S. forces, Syrian Foreign Minister Farouq al-Shara said in an interview with a British Sunday newspaper.
-- snip --
''They are very determined and many of them dream of seeing an American tank,'' Shara said of militants who cross the border into Iraq.
''We are doing everything we can,'' he told the Sunday Telegraph. ''We have tightened our checkpoints and are turning people back. But the border is long and we cannot cover it all.
''If America, a rich superpower cannot stop Mexicans crossing into the United States, then how can we, a poor country, be expected to stop Palestinians getting into Iraq.''

Not all Republicans have backed Bush's deals with his Mexican business partners.
Nonsense.
Not precisely. He intends to make it legal, is all.
Meanwhile the fires will continue burning, while he plays his fiddle for Vincente Fox.

Yep......and he also cares about the new voters he naively believes will become GOPers after he grants them amnesty. ......And he cares about the political backlash of taking the extraordinarily politically incorrect and so-called "racist" step of securing the borders against ALL illegals (not just Mexicans).
These naive posters haven't been to northern CA, either. The Modesto Bee has been following a Mexican street gang that has been invading homes, raping the women and terrorizing the community.
They are part of a gang called the Nortenos.
Plus, 25% of our convicts in CA prisons are illegal immigrants, not to mention the cons that are here "legally."
ROFLMAO!!
Sure, if you want to read it that way, go ahead.
By your logic if Syria said that grass was green, I would have to declare grass purple in order not to be allied with them in their war against America. If I agreed that grass was green, I would be a traitor.
If that is your official position on the matter, then I suppose I won't be invited to your holiday party this year. (shrug)
Yes you are, if you do not support closing our borders and tightening immigration law now. We are at war now because of what happened September 11,2001. That attack occurred because our immigration system is broken. Those terrorists came to this country after minimal/no background checks due to our defective immigration system. Many of them illegally overstayed their visas. Many of them also took advantage of the state of Virginia's then lax driver license policies, which allowed illegals to receive licenses with no real proof of who they were.
Right now in this country we have states like Massachusetts and California that either allow or are working to allow illegal immigrants to receive licenses with less documentation than that required by an American citizen.
We have cities throughout the country recognizing the suspect matricula consular. Cities allowing illegals with no background checks to have licenses and government services with laughable proof of identity such as a power bill with a name and address and an TIN number.
We have hundreds of thousands of people illegally pouring across our borders every year. None of them have had background checks. Are you really going to say they are all honest work seekers? Some are. Others are drug smugglers armed and dangerous, importing their poisons to wreak havoc in our cities. Others are criminals murderers, rapists, robbers, fleeing their home country to avoid being arrested and prosecuted.
And others are from the middle east. Personal journals have been found on our border written in arabic. These journals have been turned over to the FBI. Are they the journals of arabs seeking freedom? Or of madmen plotting to destroy one of our cities?
The fbi isn't saying. Are you in a position to assure that all these people are just coming for jobs?
Our troops are fighting this war to protect America. Yet here at home, our pandering politicians at all levels of government are not only not doing anything to close the loopholes, in many states they are encouraging illegal immigration by providing services to people who should not be here with minimal proof of identity and no background checks.
I would know they were lying.
It's what they do.
They will not stop unless we make them stop.
I would know they were lying.
Even if you looked down and saw that the grass was indeed, green? Or would your mind not allow you to accept that fact, and translate it into another color?
It's what they do.
Liars can sometimes tell the truth. As a matter of fact, smattering of propoaganda with bits of truth if a cery time tested techinique.
Like I said, the message is not invalid because the messenger is despicable.
They will not stop unless we make them stop.
Mexicans crossing the U.S. border, or Pali's crossing the Syrian border?
The fact that the majority of America disagrees with him on this issue apparently means nothing to him. He has cured me of being a Republican.
No, in this case they are not lying to us. Our border is nearly as porous as theirs. It sucks that they are right, but they are.
I will not give aid and comfort to the enemy (Syria not Mexico).
How does admitting a valid point give aid and comfort to the enemy? You really think the U.S. just going to back off of Syria because they made a valid point? You are more credible when you don't deny that which is true. The U.S. should concede the point as valid, and move on with our agenda.
Defending the indefensible makes us no better. We don't need to lie to be right. I really don't want a Baghdad Bob running our foreign policy. "Mexicans, what Mexicans????".
If you want to extend the War on Terror and the Axis of Evil to Mexico state your position clearly.
I want to extend the war against terrorism to secure both the northern and southern borders of the United States. That is my clear position, and I have stated it.
I think it is madness.
Opinion duly noted. I disagree.
The Mexicans that come here are some of the most racist people I have ever encountered.
Yes, they are lying to us. They are killing Americans in Iraq through their proxy terrorists and saying they can't stop them from going to see the American tanks they yearn for because the United States can't stop migrant workers from illegally crossing our border with Mexico.
The truth is they want to kill Americans and to defeat America so that it crawls back across the sea with its tail between its leg and converts to Islam.
I want to extend the war against terrorism to secure both the northern and southern borders of the United States. That is my clear position, and I have stated it.
Wars are fought against people not landmarks (fences, mountains, rivers, walls, or deserts). The War on terror is waged against terrorists and the regimes that support them. I guess your clear position is to extend the war to the governments of Mexico and Canada. That would be madness.
I don't think so.
They are killing Americans in Iraq through their proxy terrorists and saying they can't stop them from going to see the American tanks they yearn for because the United States can't stop migrant workers from illegally crossing our border with Mexico.
Makes perfect sense.
The truth is they want to kill Americans and to defeat America so that it crawls back across the sea with its tail between its leg and converts to Islam.
That has nothing to do with the ability or disability to control a long, desert border.
Wars are fought against people not landmarks (fences, mountains, rivers, walls, or deserts). The War on terror is waged against terrorists and the regimes that support them. I guess your clear position is to extend the war to the governments of Mexico and Canada. That would be madness.
Nope. Madness is fighting a war on terror while leaving your borders wide open to anyone who may want to come in.
Nobody said anything about waging war against the government of Canada or Mexico. You're getting silly. It is OUR responsibility to protect OUR side of the borders. That's not war, that is, well, controlling entry by foreign nationals into your country.
Can you really not tell the diffence? If the French demand to see you passport when you cross the French border, and turn you away if you don't have one ... is that an act of war? Is that an indictment of the U.S. government?
Of course it isn't. And I think (or at least hope) that you know it.
Since when is Syria a "poor" country?
