I survived the Democratic Debates and all I got was this lousy headache.
Posted on 10/26/2003 9:18:53 PM PST by Hillary's Lovely Legs
This evening I was dishonored to attend the Democratic Presidential Debate at the fabulous Fox Theatre in Detroit, Michigan.
I was surrounded by 5,000 Democrats. To make things worse I was also in the same room at the 9 candidates, Carl Levin, Debbie Stabenaugh, Carolyn Cheeks-Kilpatrick, Debbie Granholm and TERRI MCAULIFF!!!
Fox News Reporter Kelly Wright was the MC. He told us that we had to clap loudly when the show started, and then to control ourselves during the show.
There is an irony here. The debates were carried on Fox News, but you can't get Fox News on local Detroit Cable. You have to have a dish. Kelly asked how many folks want Fox News to be carried in Detroit and he was met with a round of Boos. It's obvious that Detroit doesn't want Fox in their homes.
Kelly then introduced all the VIPs in the audience. Jennifer Granholm, Debbie Stabenaugh, and Terry McAuliff got the loudest applause and standing ovations. It was puke making.
He told a couple of jokes and sang a little and then the show was on.
I noticed that I was sitting next to a John Kerry supporter, a couple of Edwards supporters, Dean, Braun and Sharpton.
The debate was on. I took vociferous notes, but I am not going to bore you with every question and answer, so if you would like a specific impression of a question, feel free to ask.
I will mention the highlights.
Carol Mosely-Braun is a liar. She stated that she left her office with dignity and that her reputation remains intact. If her reputation is that of a scoundrel and a thief, then yes, her reputation is intact.
The audience HATED Joe Lieberman. There was no clapping for him. Only booing and heckles. I don't know if it is because the audience was anti-semetic or that Lieberman supported the war. The audience was highly anti-war, and totally anti-Bush.
Shaption was a hit. When he blasted the Patriot Act and said that he would negotiate with Arafat, the audience was spell bound. Then when he stated that this election was a 'Battle between the Christian Right and the Right Christians" the crowd lept to their feet in a deafening applause. I haven't heard applause like that since I saw Styx and the Babies at the Cow Palace in 1979. ( in my notes it states..."I am surrounded by idiots and morons")
Kusinich is a total lightweight. He said that he wanted to start the Department of Peace to bring non-violence to America. He stated that last month Detroit had a slaughter of 300 people.
My friend and I looked at each other and said " did we miss something? When did we lose 300 people? Ok, Dennis, whatever you say.
My impressions of the candidates in person..... Kerry is scary. He is HUGE. He is even scarier in person. He has no presence.
Edwards... Pretty boy. The gals loved him. Even my friend said that he had a nice smile. I told her that it was the smile of a snake.
Sharpton is a buffoon, but he was definately a crowd pleaser. Most people said that they liked Sharpton.
Kusinich is a freak. He had a large following there, since he is from Ohio. He thinks that we need to give 12,000,000 students 'free' tuition. He said that we need to give 'free kindergarden' to 3-5 year olds, therefore saving parents $7000. Where is Dennis going to get all this ' free' money?
Braun is annoying, Lieberman tries but he just can't get any respect, but it was Dean and Clarke that are evil.
Dean is Frankestien. I swear that his head had to have been sewn on. It's not the right head for the body. He's evil and mean and I want to smack in him the face with an oar. He revels in his anti-war stance.
Clarke is crazy. He's that uncle who took a hit to the head in the war and you have to cut his meat for him. That guy has big problems.
I can conclude with what the democrats taught me tonight.
...Bush is wrong about everything.
...Cheney, Powell, Rice, Wolfowitz, and Rumsfeld are stupid people and don't know what in the world they are doing.
...We lost the Iraq War. We have no end strategy and it's another Vietnam.
...Speaking of Vietnam, did you know that Kerry was a veteran? I am glad he mentioned it 3 times or I wouldn't have known.
...The Bush tax cut is bad.
...We are all going to hell in a handbasket.
It's far worse to be in person with these people than to watch them on television. I am never going to do that again. I learned my lesson and taken my punishment.

I sat and watched the whole debate - what a bunch of losers! Heaven forbid any one of them ever gets into the White House. I don't think Clark can stop Dean and he is so far left I don't think he can win against Bush. I'm glad I was not in the audience!!

Then when he stated that this election was a 'Battle between the Christian Right and the Right Christians" the crowd lept to their feet in a deafening applause. That quote by him reminds me of what Clinton said in 1992 to the DNC convention.
"We have family values, our government doesn't!"
The DNC crowd thought Christ had entered the room. They cheered so loud because they thought: "Seeeeeeeeeeee! We are not immoral jackasses like we thought we were!"
Like Ann Coulter said, it is good to be a Liberal, because you can be immoral (i.e. practice abortion, sodomy, class envy, lying, hatred, etc) and if you get caught---you just say you are not a "hypocrit!"

For your selfless service, above and beyond the call of duty, you deserve the Medal Of Valor.
Being there on the ground floor, was there any possible way to tell the difference between the events at the Fox Theatre and your garden variety Brownshirt Rally - other than the accents and the grainy film, of course? I couldn't see any!
It even seems one of the high points of the Rally was a call for a Krystallnacht against the Judenmensch Religious Right!

This is a reply to my report from my father.
A few facts here;
1) 50% of all Americans are too stupid to get a job, earn enough ( or be a criminal) to pay taxes! The vast majority are democrat. Some of them even vote. Most get their news from the national media - ABC, NBC, CBS, CNN, NYT, WP, LAT.....
2) Iraq is vastly improved from prewar conditions. After only 6 months there is more power being generated, all schools/hospitals are open, 60,000 Iraq's are in the police force - I could go on....
a) Would the world (Iraq) be better off with Saddam still in power?
b) Just 1 ship that went down in WW II would have killed more than all killed in Iraq.
3) The economy, by almost any measure, is dramatically improving. W inherited a terrible economic situation in 1Q 1991.
4) the jobless recovery is due to a new economy - technology allows productivity improvement, we still have over capacity, employers are cautious after learning from the 90's. Jobs will be created when demand exceeds supply.. (To create demand give the people that spend money money)
5) Jobs get outsourced overseas to be able to maintain competitiveness. You think Levi's wanted to shut down US manufacturing? After all of this 95% of all Americans HAVE A JOB! Get over it folks - get the skills to compete in today's job market. Oh yeah, average wages are going UP (NYT 10/26/03).
6) There have been no documented "bad things" happen due to the Patriot Act.
I could go on....
The questions for the 9 Dwarfs are;
1) What would happen if the US pulled out of Iraq before there was a secure environment and Iraqi government? In Iraq? In the middle east?
2) What would happen if the tax cuts were taken away? To the stock market? To consumer spending?
3) What would happen if we implemented a protectionist, vs. world market, policy? Remember Smoot Hawley? End NAFTA? .....
4) What would you have done in 1991 to get the economy growing?
5) As only 25% of the deficit is due to the tax cuts, and 50% is due to reduced tax revenues due to the economy, how would you implement your policies with a reduced deficit?
6) Because you think we shouldn't have gone to war in Iraq due to faulty intelligence, what would you have done in 2002 to improve it - considering you were on the frigging Intelligence Committee?
7) What would you do to fix the Isriel/Palestinian problem?
8) What would happen if we gave the UN (most countries are not democracies) control over US policy?
9) What would happen to demand creation if the tax cuts were rescinded? (???)
This isn't rocket science. No matter what the 9 dwarfs do/say now Bush and Republicans will win in 2004 because the facts are with them, the democrats make no sense, and the American people (at least 50% of them) are no idiots.
DOD
P.S. Lieberman makes the most sense, Kusenich/Sharpton/Brown are idiots, Clark has no organization, much less an economic message/credibility, Edwards is a lightweight, Gebhart is a union tool, Kerry doesn't know how to campaign, and Dean is waaaay too left.
The question before the American voter in November 04 is would you trust one of these characters with the future of America with all the unknowns (i.e. key advisors - Powell, Rice, Cheney, Rumsfield, etc.?)? Furthermore, what will get done with a Republican congress and a nutty Democrat president?

Did anybody see Al-TawanaBrawley-Sharpton on Fox and Friends this morning?? He is a disgusting blowhard, but I love how he is a fly in the Demo ointment.hehehehehehe. Bingo! The Democrats have to know that time's running out on them to pick a candidate. I don't know if Sharpton realizes he's a long shot, but it's clear he's lavishing the attention, and he's not going away anytime soon. That's gotta be driving the Democrat muckity-mucks insane.

Excellent comments, I'm glad you made it out alive. And I totally agree with you about Hillary. The dems are splintered when it comes to the 9 dwarves, but they would rally round Hillary. Frightening thought.

I can't believe I made it through this nightmare. You are a brave soul. I was eating Advil like candy while watching.
To: Hillary's Lovely Legs
I REALLY want to hear more about Kucinich and his "US Dept of Peace". Good Lord, if we think the IRS is intrusive, what nightmare could the Peace polce be?
To: ClancyJ
You forgot to mention that Edwards has plans and wrote them down.Too bad nobody will read it. :-)
To: StoneColdTaxHater
Maybe the Department of Peace will go to everyone's house and plant flowers.
